New rules for imports from China are coming, and they could impact your cargo flow.

South Africa is introducing a mandatory Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) program. Here is the "Sweet and Simple" breakdown of what you need to know:

What’s changing?
From September, certain goods (starting with those from China) will need a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) before they even leave the country of origin. This certificate proves your products meet South African safety and quality standards.

Who is affected first?
The focus is on high-risk consumer goods, including:

Toys

Electrical appliances

Furniture

Why does this matter to you?
If your shipment arrives without this certificate, it could be flagged, detained, or delayed at the port. There is also a risk that broad customs codes might cause unrelated items to be caught up in the checks.

The Keystone Tip:
Don't wait until September! Use the current six-month transition period to talk to your suppliers in China. Ensuring they are ready for these quality checks now will prevent your cargo from coming to a standstill later.
