Some tips which may give some insight to those of us who don't use a wheelchair. Unfortunately we're not likely to see Ade anytime soon at Chepstow, but we will keep pressing for decent access for everyone.

Women and girls who use Chepstow Station may be interested in this survey.

We're listening to women and girls across Gloucestershire about their experience of travelling by public transport.

We recognise that safety and confidence on public transport are shaped by lived experience, and that factors like age, faith, race, disability, and geography can affect how travel feels. Understanding that intersectionality is important to us.

That’s why we want to hear from you. By sharing your views, you’ll help us:

✅ Identify practical improvements for safety and customer support on the rail network
🚆 Influence public transport stakeholders to take a community-first approach
🤝 Shape our future projects so they respond to real experiences and needs in Gloucestershire

The survey takes around 10 minutes, is anonymous, and you can skip any questions.

A brief report from our very successful first gathering today, Tuesday 10 March 2026.

Around 20 people who are interested in making our station better and more accessible for everyone got together for an hour at lunchtime. We looked around the station and talked (a lot) about progressing this group. We agreed we want to demonstrate there is local pressure to improve the station buildings and surroundings, increase services and ensure access to Platform 1. We plan to build the group, gaining support from businesses in the town and other institutions

On access to Platform 1 we debated several ideas including: an accessible bridge, a lift, direct access to the back of the platform via an existing road (currently gated). The latter could be for people on foot and perhaps for blue badge holders by car.

We’re going to follow up with an evening meeting soon, so people who aren't available in the daytime can join us.

Come along if you want to help make our station better and more accessible for everyone. We'll have a look around the station and plan the future of this group, so we really want to see you there.

We're doing this one in the daytime, and we'll follow it up with events in the evening for people who aren't around in the day. Follow us and watch out for more info here.

This is good news for South East Wales: new stations and new rolling stock.

Chepstow is the first - and last - station in Wales on this line. It's unacceptable that people are prevented from using services at Platform 1.

Join us at one of our forthcoming gatherings.

Another short update on progress with forming this group.

We're hoping to have our first public group meeting in early March. We'll meet at the station for a look around (and maybe head off for a coffee afterwards).

The idea of meeting up is to find out who's interested (and available) and then start to put together what we want to do.

If you're interested in coming along, please send us a thumbs up 👍🏼 below so we don't miss you when we set the date.

A short update on our new year message.

Later this week we're meeting Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership to learn about their work on other parts of the network, what we can learn from them, and how they can support us.

Following that, we'll be meeting Catherine Fookes MP soon. We already know Catherine strongly supports our aim of making both platforms fully accessible, and we'll be looking at other shared interests.

Then we should be ready to have a proper community meet-up at the station. We'll post about that here and start off gathering our areas of interest.

Everyone who uses (or would like to use) our station, please read Catherine's post and sign the petition!

Everyone who uses (or would like to use) our station, please read Catherine's post and sign the petition!

🚂 CHEPSTOW TRAIN STATION CAMPAIGN: Over 700 people have already signed my petition calling for Chepstow Train Station to be made fully accessible.

I’ve now written to the Welsh Government asking them to ensure that Network Rail put Chepstow at the very top of the list for accessibility funding, so step-free access can finally be delivered.

It’s simply not right that people with mobility issues, wheelchairs or prams are unable to access one of the platforms - forcing some passengers to travel into England before coming back into Wales.

Both Chepstow Town Council and Monmouthshire County Council have been pressing on this issue for some time, and I’ll keep pushing alongside them.

If you haven’t already, please add your name to the petition - the more people, the stronger our case!

New Year, new station!
🚂🚃🚃🚃

Chepstow is the first (and last) railway station in Wales. It could be the best!

A few locals have made a start on setting up a 'friends group' for the station. Our next step is to get together a group of people who want to help make it better.

We've talked about the state and appearance of the buildings, getting to the station, and perhaps most importantly, making Platform 1 accessible to everyone. If you have a push chair, a wheelchair or a bike, it's next to impossible to get over there.

We already have support from Chepstow Town Council, and Catherine Fookes MP is campaigning for funding. And we've made contacts with TfW and rail support groups in other parts of the country.

We're getting a representative from a neighbouring group down to hear about their experiences very soon. Following that it'll be time for action - lobbying our politicians, attracting funding, and getting real physical improvements for the benefit of users.

If you're interested in keeping in touch or getting involved, please let us know by email: [email protected]
