Sa Pa town square (amphitheatre)

The amphitheatre is a main hub in Sa Pa. Right across from the station to Fansipan Mountain.

It’s a popular place for tourists and street vendors. There wasn’t too much happening but lots of hustling.

Our daily go to - Sa Mộc Cafe ☕️

Really cool little restaurant. Pete liked the egg coffee. I finally ordered my own, had two sips and gave it to Pete 😆

The owner is an artist and has a gallery next to the cafe. His talent is throughout the cafe.

We left Ta Van village at 8am.

Just us, a guide, and a valley so green it looked painted.

The hike took us through several villages, down narrow dirt paths, around locals homes, bush whacking through a bamboo forest, waterfalls,
rest stops with breathtaking views and a delicious lunch at a homestay in the middle of of the upper valley.

The knowing that trucks and cars cannot pass through these tracks and everything must be carried in by hand or scooter made the experience so much more.

There is something about walking through a working valley being mesmerised by the intricate detail of the rice paddies, the small corners of property taken up by other crops. Hearing the chirp of the chicks and ducklings as they make sure not to lose sight of their Mum.

Nature is big. We are small. There is nothing more grounding than stepping out for a hike and appreciating its magnificence.

Sapa Valley had us in awe and we were lucky enough to walk through the middle of it.

From the back streets of Hanoi to SaPa

Sometime words cannot express the experience so pics are a must.

We checked out of our lovely hotel in downtown Hanoi and made our way to our stay nearby the train station. It was definitely a cultural immersion. We were staying in a construction zone. Outside our door the locals cooked food for the workers which we didn’t capture pics of.

Walking to the station locals laughed at us as we dragged our packs and luggage down the road 😆

We made it to the station, language barriers are prevalent but we made it to our train and carriage to embark on our magical train ride to SaPa and what an amazing trip.

The train pulled out one minute early. We were rocked and rolled to sleep to arrive on the border of China then into transport to our stay which I had my eyes closed most of the way as it was scary 😧

An awesome experience to land in one of the most beautiful places we have seen and we made our own fun along the way 😀
