A little piece of rural Japan is coming to Thailand’s rails. From 20 April 2026, the iconic KiHa 40/48 diesel trains will begin commuter services between Bangkok and Ayutthaya—marking the first step toward extending Bangkok’s suburban network beyond Rangsit.
Here’s what we know so far 👇
⏱️ Journey time: ~1 hr
💸 Fare: Around 30–50 baht
🗓️ Trial period: Weekdays until 31 October 2026
🚉 6 trains daily (3 each way)

🌏 This isn’t just a new train—it’s a living piece of Japanese railway history running to Ayutthaya.
