The Old Railway Station Snettisham

The Old Railway Station Snettisham Lovingly restored station once on the King’s Lynn to Hunstanton line, opened in 1862 and closed in 1969. www.snettishamrailwaystation.co.uk

Now a unique holiday let with original charm and two platforms where Sir John Betjeman once admired the view.

My photo today in between the showers gave inspiration to create a poster of the golden age of railway travel celebrating Snettisham – Gateway to the Norfolk Coast. A village of wildflower meadows, big skies, rich heritage and easy access to some of Norfolk’s most beautiful landscapes.” 🌺🚂🌾

Another step closer to recreating the very place where Sir John Betjeman stopped at Snettisham Railway Station on his journey from Kings Lynn to Hunstanton
A real labour of love and still a work in progress — with just the totem, bench and hedge left to do. Every step brings a little more of the station’s history back to life.

It may be raining in Snettisham… but something rather special is blooming 💙. A small detail, rooted in the past, blooming into the present
Our railway-blue Muscari, planted last autumn, are now thriving — gently forming an “S” for Snettisham. •

A path between sky and sea…

From Burnham Overy Staithe to Brancaster Staithe, the Norfolk coast reveals itself slowly — marsh, water, light and silence, all shifting with the tide.

March sunshine warms the way, and at the journey’s end, a pause at The White Horse feels well deserved. Then, an easy return on the Coastliner Bus — no rush, no retracing steps.

This is the beauty of staying at The Old Station.
Time to explore, and time to simply enjoy.

This World Book Day we’re celebrating stories set right here in Norfolk.

The Ruth Galloway mysteries by Elly Griffiths capture the wild beauty of our coastline — sea mist, salt marsh and long skies.

There’s something rather special about reading a novel set in the very landscape you’re looking out at.

📍 Books on the table. Snettisham beyond the window.

Slow mornings at The Old Station.
