They are coming! The 24 Mid-Century colors will be available for individual sale May 22nd.

A fusion of artistry and vintage appeal, this collection draws inspiration from the bold colors and elegant designs of the mid-20th century—a time when creativity flourished and art embraced new visions.

The mid-century movement was characterized by a philosophy of simplicity, functionality, and a deep respect for craftsmanship, reflecting a desire to harmonize the beauty of form with everyday life.

Some collection highlights: Eames green, Powder blue, Rosa 22, Sunshine yellow, Atomic orange, Fuchsia, Lavender, Sage green and McM blue.

This week at the lab!

A look at what we have been busy working on this past week.

From preparing the May 22nd launch of our Mid-Century colors for individual sale, to testing new pigments to special collaborations, our artisan team is always working hard with care and passion.

2. Every color is accompanied by a unique watercolor gradient hand-painted with expert care

3. The original marbled paper packaging of our palettes are each glued to 300gsm paper and shaped into bands. Here’s our trick for making the edges of the bands smooth, no creases no cracks.

4. Preparing Rosa 22, one of the 24 individual half pan colors that will be released during the Mid-Century color launch on May 22nd.

Designed for illustrators and designers, our opaque watercolors shine in their pure form—perfect for clean fields of color, crisp accents, and expressive contrast.

They also pair beautifully with our transparent paints for luminous underlayers and defined finishing touches.

From earth to cosmos 🌍✨ celebrating Earth Month through natural pigment stories—each color carrying centuries (or billions of years) of history:

1. Lapis Lazuli — a deep, celestial blue born from a semi-precious stone mined for over 6,000 years. Once the most precious pigment of the Renaissance, reserved for the divine.

2. Rose Madder — a delicate, transparent red derived from the roots of Rubia tinctorum, used since ancient civilizations for both textiles and art.

3. Yellow Weld — a luminous yellow extracted from Reseda luteola, a plant historically cultivated in France for its radiant dye.

4. Icelandic Red — volcanic in origin, this nuanced pigment captures plum and ochre tones gathered near Snaefellsjökull, shaped by earth’s raw forces.

5. Vivianite — rare and ever-changing, shifting between blue-gray and green-gray. Found in fossil-rich environments, it connects pigment to time, decay, and transformation.

6. Han Purple — a regal, granulating violet engineered over 2,500 years ago in ancient China, where art and alchemy met.

7. Meteorite Brown — the universe in pigment form. Made from 4.5 billion-year-old chondrite meteorites, fragments of shooting stars that found their way to earth.

A journey through mineral, plant, and cosmic origins—reminding us that color is not just seen, but inherited. 🌱🌌

This week at the studio!

A look at the many different processes that happen inside our workshop.

1. Prepping liquid paint to be poured into tubes
2. Creating the Mid-Century 24 color palette packing by hand.
3. Pouring our gum Arabic and honey-based watercolor medium into jars.
4. Creating special edition dot cards for the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan for an upcoming workshop
5. Hand painting the tube labels for Iridescent Aquamarine.

Our 12 soft iridescent colors are in 10ml tube format.Our iridescent colors are made with natural mica particles. The mica is coated with thin layers of metal oxides, which creates light interference and achieves the dynamic, color-shifting qualities present in our line of Soft Iridescent colors!
