I’m a mom in America just trying to survive.

I made it through the expensive diapers and formula.
I made it through the $1200 a month daycare fees.

Now I’m trying to survive my 20 year old not being able to afford life like I did at her age. By her age I had a toddler and my own apartment making $12.50 an hour.

Now I’m trying to survive senior fees, sports fees, feeding 3 (almost) grown children, keeping them clothed and healthy.

All of this in an economy that’s no longer made for where we stand in this society. the middle class fading away making it impossible to know how our children will afford adulthood.

THE CHRISTA PIKE CASE — THE 1995 MURDER THAT STILL HAUNTS TENNESSEE

Christa Pike’s case has been surrounded by stories of Satanism, pentagrams, jealousy, extreme violence, childhood trauma, and a death sentence that would remain in place for nearly 30 years.

In January 1995, 18-year-old Christa Pike was attending the Job Corps program in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was involved with 17-year-old Tadaryl Shipp.

Another student, 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, was attending too.

According to the prosecution, Pike became increasingly jealous and believed Colleen was interfering with her relationship with Tadaryl.

On January 12, 1995, Christa, Tadaryl and another student, Shadolla Peterson, took Colleen to an isolated area near the University of Tennessee’s agricultural campus.

What happened there was horrific.

Colleen was attacked for an extended period of time. She was beaten, cut and struck repeatedly before ultimately being killed.

One of the details that made this case infamous was the pentagram carved into Colleen’s chest.

Because Christa and Tadaryl had an interest in occult and Satanic imagery, the murder quickly became associated with the Satanic panic that was prevalent in the United States during the 1990s.

Court records indicate that Tadaryl admitted to carving the pentagram.

Two days after the murder, Christa confessed to investigators and provided details about the killing.

Investigators also discovered evidence that Christa had kept a piece of Colleen’s skull as a trophy.

Christa was ultimately convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

In 1996, at only 20 years old, she was sentenced to death.

Tadaryl was also convicted, but because he was 17 when the murder occurred, he could not receive the death penalty. He received a life sentence.

Shadolla, the third participant, eventually cooperated with authorities and received a much lighter punishment.

As the years have gone on it became known as:

“Teenage Satanist kills girl in ritual murder.”

& it currently seems like the devil she wanted so badly to worship is saying, nah yall keep her, because her lethal injection failed and her status is currently unknown after emergency medical intervention occurred on 9/30/2026.

MILLENNIALS — where were you?!

The first mistake from Dancing with the Stars was cutting his hair. Who decided that obviously isn’t an elder millennial!

The second mistake was not enough of us 90s kids showing up for Taylor… or did we 🤔

Either way BAD CALL!

For a show that only had 86 episodes total, it seems like such a huge part of our childhood!

I’m going to say something that will probably make the older generations shake their heads:

Kids today aren’t necessarily more spoiled than we were.

They’re just spoiled differently.

We begged our parents for Jordan’s and Nike’s.

We begged for video games and CDs.

We begged for a Nokia with the game Snake.

We begged for the mini beeper.

We begged for Abercrombie and Hollister.

We begged for whatever everyone else had.

We just didn’t have TikTok showing us what everyone else had 24 hours a day.

We had comparison. They have comparison on steroids.

So before we start with the whole:

“Kids today don’t appreciate anything…”

Remember that we were standing in line at the mall begging our parents for something we absolutely did not need too.

We just had fewer cameras documenting it.

I survived sneaking to use the family computer with loud dial up internet. I survived having to call and speak to a friend’s mom just to talk to my friend from a phone connected to a wall. There is no way I’m going to be defeated by all of these spam calls on my cell phone and work phone! Something has got to give. What is going on with these calls?!

I feel like this is a safe space to finally share this memory.

When I was younger I’d visit a house that had a wall, yes a whole entire wall, of VHS tapes that had been recorded.

It didn’t click in my head until YEARS later that those tapes had movie titles on them written in sharpie because those people ignored the warning that came up on all Blockbuster videos — IYKYK

Surrounded by criminals and I had no idea 😆

As someone who is a self proclaimed connoisseur of ancient true crime. Thanks to a weirdo stepmom I had who would make us listen to Lizzie’s book on tape while driving at night to her house 2 hours away. I knew Ryan Murphy’s version wouldn’t be historically accurate but he could’ve at least gotten the small details right — it happened to the dad while he was asleep on the couch. I made it to episode 3, not sure if I want to continue.

Did you watch the whole series?

On September 11, 2001 I was sitting upstairs in this building. I was a sophomore in high school. I can still see myself sitting on top of a desk in a classroom that was actually playing it on tv. I’m sure most of us went on about our day - sports practice, work, going home for dinner. We had no idea what we were witnessing would change our lives going forward.
