Savino Del Bene Celebrates 125 Years of History
Founded in 1899: Honoring our past, embracing our future.
2024 marks the 125th year since the founding of Savino Del Bene. It all began in Florence in 1899.
It was precisely in the distant past of 1899 that the Municipality of Florence granted Mr. Savino Del Bene a license as a sub-agent for emigration. More specifically, assisting Italian emigrants with: tickets on steamships departing from Genoa and Livorno, and the necessary documentation for departure.
We have documents attesting to this activity for the entire 1920s. However, we know little about the following two decades.
An important piece of history for which we have records is during the World War 1939-1945. Works of art housed in the museums of Florence, which were at risk of being smuggled to Germany, were safeguarded with the help of Savino Del Bene and its resources.
We then move on to the post-war period. Italy experienced the economic miracle of the 1950s/1960s, which propelled our country and our society forward.
At that time, communications relied on the telephone and telegraph, and a few years later transitioned to telex and fax machines. The use of computers followed shortly thereafter.
With around fifty employees in the 1960s and a headquarters in Florence, Savino Del Bene began opening branches in Italy and its first overseas office in New York, a destination hub then, as it is today, for many of our operations.
Jumping ahead to the present day, we now boast 337 offices in 60 countries, with over 6,000 employees. We offer nearly all services related to the handling of goods and the organization of shipments abroad.
In doing so, we strive to instill in our employees the motivation to do their work well, competently, and professionally, for fair compensation, thereby enabling the Company to invest and grow.
We place the individual at the center of our activities. Their satisfaction and growth are the reasons behind our success. As long as we are capable, we hope that all of this effort extends beyond our time.
On this anniversary, spanning three centuries, we want to convey a sense of continuity and certainty.
