🌊 Safe in the Ark of God’s Mercy
📖 Text: Genesis 7:1–24
I. God’s Invitation to Enter (Genesis 7:1–10) Come into the ark, you and all your household…” (v.1)
This is not just instruction, it is grace. God Himself calls Noah and his family into safety before judgment falls.
“Righteous before Me” Noah’s righteousness was not perfection, but faith and obedience to God’s word.
The ark is a picture of Christ, the only refuge from judgment.
💐 Preaching Point: Salvation begins with God’s invitation. Have you responded to His call in Christ?
II. God’s Judgment Falls (Genesis 7:11–24)
“All flesh died that moved on the earth…” (v.21)
The floodwaters symbolize God’s holy wrath against sin.
The fountains of the great deep were broken up, judgment came from above and below, total and inescapable.
The flood reminds us that God’s word of judgment is certain.
💐 Preaching Point: Outside the ark there was only death; outside of Christ there is only condemnation.
III. God’s Provision of Security (Genesis 7:13–16)
“The Lord shut him in.” (v.16)
Noah did not secure himself; God sealed the door.
This is divine assurance, salvation is God’s work from beginning to end.
Just as Noah was shut in, believers are sealed in Christ by the Spirit (Ephesians 1:13).
💐 Preaching Point: Your salvation is secure because God Himself holds you in Christ.
IV. Faith Expressed in Obedience (Genesis 7:5)
“And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.”
Noah’s obedience was evidence of his faith. He trusted God’s word even when the world mocked.
Faith is not passive; it acts on God’s promises.
True obedience flows from trust in God’s character.
💐 Preaching Point: Genuine faith produces obedience, even when it is unpopular or costly.
🌸 Application
💙 Trust: God’s invitation is real, respond to Christ today.
💙 Rest: Salvation is secure because God Himself seals it.
💙 Obey: Faith is proven by obedience to God’s word.
💙 Warn: Judgment is certain, share the gospel with urgency.
🙌🏻 Prayer:
Righteous and Merciful God, thank You for providing salvation in Christ, our true Ark. Help me to trust Your invitation, rest in Your security, and walk in obedience. May I live as a witness of Your grace, warning others of judgment and pointing them to Jesus, the only refuge. Amen.
