Almost unbelievable but true - today it's three years that we are on the road. Oh well, rather three years away from home, because for the last 14 months we have been stranded in and not living an overlander life at all.

So yes, we are still here in Saigon 😉
But especially under these crazy circumstances we cannot complain. Living in this bustling city is a fabulous experience and we wouldn't want to miss a minute of it. Even though we of course miss our home on wheels and being on the road, we have learned to live with the uncertainty when we will finally be able to go to Australia and reunite there with our car. We make the best of our situation and that works out fine.

In the past months we lived a more or less "ordinary" life here in Vietnam and we also took a big break from social media. There are some things we have on our mind about this topic, but we will get to it in one of our next postings.

So we are using this anniversary now to say hello again. And also, today we set off to a trip within Vietnam, where for sure there will be many impressions that are worth sharing with those who are interested. This is feasible, because Vietnam handled the Covid-19 pandemic extremely well. Free travelling within its borders was almost always possible. The pictures of this post are from a trip to the stunning island of Cat Ba in the north of Vietnam which we did a few months ago.

Our adorable foster cat Ruby is still looking for her purrfect forever-home.

Ruby is one of those lovely cats who makes your heart skip a beat the moment you first see her - not just because of her beautiful ginger look with amber-colored eyes, but also because of her sweet personality.

It's been now 6 week since she moved in with us and we adore her like our own cat.

Most of the time, she is sprawling out for a nap, lounging around and relaxing, but her favorite way to spend the day is near to her people. Ruby absolutely loves snuggling with us and she never misses out an opportunity to show us her love.

The only thing that can keep her from cuddling is, when it's playtime. She loves chasing the ball, but even more does she like it when we swing her feathery toy so that she can catch it from the air with a jump.
But, no worries, if you aren’t around she has no problem keeping herself entertained!

Ruby is about one year old and a well-behaved lady. She never scratched on our furnitures, instead she loves to use the cat tree. She is also trained to go to the litter box. At night she is quiet and let her humans sleep - as long as she can sleep close to you :)

We hope so much that there is a person or family out there, who want to give this gorgeous cat the forever-home she deserves.

🔙 The countless mountain passes that we crossed in Tibet meant hard work for our old . We constantly drove on around 4000 m altitude, several times even beyond 5000 m.
The jaw-dropping landscape in this part of the world was worth the strain, and our G did master it like everything on our trip: slow but persistent.

🔙 On our journey through Southeast Asia, we were most of the time accompanied by a sweltering heat. The Bolaven plateau in Laos was one of the few areas where pleasant temperatures prevailed.
When we found this well hidden right on a small waterfall, we had no doubts that we would stay longer than only one night.
