If you are planning to come to Vietnam for work or business purposes, when applying for a 90-day e-visa, you can indicate the purpose of your visit as “work”.

⚠️WORK is not a separate work visa or a work permit. It is an indication in the visa application that the stated purpose of your trip is work-related.

The main advantage of selecting “work” as the purpose on your e-visa is that you do not need to obtain a separate approval letter for entry: you can apply for an e-visa by indicating your work-related purpose and providing the details of the organization in Vietnam you plan to work with. The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam explicitly provides for this option.

📄 What information is required?
— Details of the company in Vietnam related to your work or business purpose;
— Company’s legal address;
— Photo/scan of your passport;
— Portrait photo with a white background;
— Full name;
— Email address and phone number.

❗️If you decide to work for a different company after entering Vietnam, you will need to apply for a new e-visa with the updated company details.

💰 The processing fees are the same as for a regular visa:
▫️ 900,000₫ — for a first-time visit or if you have not been in Vietnam within the past month;
▫️ 1,500,000₫ — 3-day processing;
▫️ 2,000,000₫ — urgent processing within 4 hours.

💵 Bringing a large amount of cash into Vietnam? Here’s how to declare it 🇻🇳

When entering Vietnam, cash exceeding USD 5,000 or the equivalent amount in another foreign currency must be declared.

🛃 What to do upon arrival

1️⃣ After passport control, proceed to the red customs channel.
2️⃣ Fill out the customs declaration form. You’ll need to provide your personal details, passport number, nationality, flight information and the amount of cash you are bringing into the country. All the required fields are included in the form.
3️⃣ Hand the completed declaration to a customs officer and present the cash if requested.
4️⃣ After checking the information, the officer will confirm the declared amount and stamp the declaration form.

📄 Don’t throw away the declaration!

You may need it if you want to deposit the money into your foreign-currency bank account in Vietnam. This can be done within 30 days from the date stated on the declaration.

💡 Tip: Check your bank’s requirements in advance and bring documents confirming the source of the funds, as the bank may request them.

🇻🇳 VNeID: what is it and why do foreigners in Vietnam need it?

VNeID is Vietnam’s official electronic identification app. Simply put, it is a digital profile that allows you to verify your identity and use linked documents and data when accessing government services and using electronic services in the country.

📱 Why is it useful for foreigners?
For foreigners, the app is a convenient electronic place to store documents that can be linked to their profile: passport, visa, driver’s licence, vehicle registration and other data.

Within Vietnam, it can be used for:
• verifying your identity when dealing with a bank;
• renting accommodation;
• dealing with government authorities and other connected organisations;
• verifying information from documents added to the app.

👤 Who can get VNeID?
Starting 28 September 2026, Decree No. 320/2026/ND-CP will come into effect, changing the rules for electronic identification in Vietnam.
Under the new rules, an account can be obtained by foreigners who are legally in Vietnam on any type of visa, including visa-free entry. Having a Temporary Residence Card or Permanent Residence Card (TRC or PRC) will no longer be a mandatory requirement.

🪪 How to apply for VNeID?
Foreigners need to visit the provincial police immigration management division with their passport.
Also, you will need a Vietnamese phone number registered in your own name and an email address. During the application process, your photo and fingerprints will be taken.

⏱ The application takes up to 2 working days if your biometric data is already in the database, and up to 5 working days if it is not.

⚠️ Important: VNeID does not replace your passport when travelling or crossing the border. A physical passport is still required to enter or leave Vietnam and for international flights. The same applies to visas and visa runs.

September 2 is Vietnam’s main national holiday. On this day in 1945, Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence in Ba Đình Square in Hanoi and proclaimed the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

The day is celebrated across the country with flags, concerts, cultural events and festive fireworks ✨

🎆 Where to watch the fireworks?

🇻🇳 Hanoi
At 21:00, fireworks will be launched from 5 locations, including Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Thống Nhất Park, the F1 track and Tây Hồ, lasting 15 minutes.

🇻🇳 Ho Chi Minh City
At 21:00, fireworks will take place at 7 locations, including the Saigon River tunnel: An Khánh, the new Bình Dương urban center, Saigon Marina IFC Tower and Kim Long residential complex.

🌊 Vung Tau
At 21:00, fireworks at Tháp Tam Thắng Square.

🌊 Ha Long
At 21:45 in Bãi Cháy — a 10-minute show with music, 3D projections and fireworks.

🎆 Cat Ba
At 21:45 festive fireworks in the central bay.

🎇 Ninh Binh
Around 21:30 at Thời Đại Square — a show with fireworks, music and fountains.

🌴 Phu Quoc
At 21:00, a 5-minute fireworks show is planned in Sunset Town — after Kiss of the Sea.

🌉 Da Nang
At 21:00 at the Dragon Bridge — the traditional fire and water show. During the holidays, it takes place daily from August 28 to September 2.

🌊 Nha Trang
At 20:30, VinWonders Nha Trang on Hòn Tre Island will host a light and music fireworks show. Visible from the central beach and Trần Phú promenade. At the city’s central square (by the lotus), Dances of the World – Hello Vietnam, Hello World will take place with Miss World contestants — 2026.

📌 Tip: if you want to watch the fireworks from a restaurant, bar or hotel with a good view, book in advance. If you’ll watch from the street, arrive early: crowds and road closures may make the journey much longer.

🚨 Vietnam will introduce new fines for working without a work permit
We’ve looked into who the new rules apply to and what you should check right now.

📌 Starting September 10, 2026, Decree No. 283/2026/ND-CP will come into effect. It establishes penalties for violations related to the employment of foreign nationals in Vietnam.
Important: the procedure for obtaining a work permit itself does not change.

👤 What penalties can a foreign worker face for working illegally?
If you work in Vietnam without a valid work permit or a document confirming an exemption from the work permit requirement, you can be fined VND 15–25 million.
The same fine applies if your work permit or exemption document has expired. In certain cases, deportation may also be imposed.

🏢 Employers can also be held responsible
For employing a foreign worker without a valid work permit, an employer can be fined:
• VND 30–45 million — for 1–10 employees;
• VND 45–60 million — for 11–20 employees;
• VND 60–75 million — for 21 employees or more.

If a foreign employee works in a position or under conditions that do not match those specified in their work permit, the fine is VND 5–10 million per person.

⚠️ For companies and organizations, the fines may be twice as high as those imposed on individuals.

📄 Documents also require special attention: making alterations to, falsifying, or using fraudulent documents when applying for a work permit can result in a VND 40–60 million fine. Such documents may also be confiscated.

💁🏼‍♀️ If you have obtained a work visa, here’s what you should check:
— whether your work permit or exemption document is currently valid;
— whether your actual position matches the information stated in your documents;
— whether your employer and workplace are correctly specified.

And one more important point: a visa and a work permit are not the same thing. Having a visa does not replace a work permit if one is required in your situation.

📅 A reminder for everyone planning a visa run in late August — early September: please take note of the official public holidays in Vietnam.

The Immigration Department’s working schedule will change on these dates:
🔴 Standard e-Visa processing will be unavailable from August 29 to September 2.

🚌 Our group visa runs will operate as scheduled. However, during the holiday period, we’ll only be doing border runs, not e-Visa runs. Please check our August and September schedules for the current visa run dates.

🛂 If you need an e-Visa specifically between August 29 and September 2, we can help arrange it through an on-duty immigration officer:
✅ 90-day single-entry visa
💰 3,600,000 ₫;
➕ 90-day multiple-entry visa
💰 +700,000 ₫ (on top of the single-entry visa price);
⚡ expedited processing for an already submitted e-Visa application

⏱️ same-day approval by 5:00 PM if your documents are submitted by 3:30 PM.

This special rate applies while the standard e-Visa application process is unavailable. Regular e-Visa applications with the standard 3-working-day processing time, submitted between August 29 and September 2, will only be approved by September 8.

💬 If you need a visa urgently, it’s best to arrange it now. Slots for processing through the duty immigration officer fill up quickly during the holiday period.

The more popular Vietnam becomes, the more active scammers get. Vietnamese authorities have warned that numerous fake websites have appeared online, pretending to be the official e-Visa application service.

❗️The official e-Visa can only be applied for through government websites with the .gov.vn domain. If you’re not sure whether a website is genuine, it’s better not to risk your money and personal data.
