Nonurbia

Nonurbia Erdem and Sarah 'vacated' their lives in June 2014 and are overlanding from California to Patagonia.

Nonurbia is Sarah and Erdem, an Austrian and a Turkish expat, traveling through the Americas with their truck. We both left our countries years ago for a life in Los Angeles. This journey marks a second departure in search of what lies beyond the “American Dream”… beyond the urban and suburban modes of life. www.nonurbia.com hosts our projects and personal experiences on the road.

It's been a while since you heard from us, but we had our reasons to remain silent. So, here is how it ends... The continent, not the journey.

We started moving north after driving south for almost two years. This was the first campspot on the way north. A beautiful lakeside spot to chill out and realign our magnets.

Every stick Tara finds and gets us to play with immediately earns the title of "THE WORLDS BEST STICK". By now she knows what those words mean and she's very excited to find one everywhere we go. This one was brought to our attention at the end of the road in Tierra Del Fuego in Chile. So we decided to engrave it and celebrate the end of the road by playing fetch.

The must have roamed these hills thousands of years ago. Now it's Tara's turn. We drove off the road and up the hills surrounding until it became impossible to continue. That's where we camped for two days. Little did we know that behind the rocky peak laid the famous where 's famous book kicks off. is indeed a place where history and geography blend into each other.

After waiting for a few hours of listening to distant cracks, with camera ready at hand, we finally got to see a huge chunk of the glacier fall down. Those few seconds will probably remain in our memories.

is a giant glacier that's constantly growing, moving and melting. One good look at it, and you'll stop thinking that the earth is created for mankind. The earth is a wild place an there's nothing cute about it.
