PART 2: HOW TO MITIGATE SUCH
Understanding a few things will make your life, and career, less challenging.and reduce stress.
The following are what I call daily absolutes. These are events that will happen regardless of where most of us travel. This 1st part will only reiterate what you already know. The 2nd part will provide some ideas and methods that will help ease these issues.
1.) No amount of education will ever change the general public's driving habits. So it's up to the trucks to mitigate the public's careless and sometimes reckless acts. Not because we are obligated to do so but because sometimes people just don't know any better.
A.) Near misses are an almost everyday occurrence. Cars will continue to cut you off. Fill any spaces you put between yourself and another vehicle and will see heavy trucks as a nuisance instead of the vital life line to their everyday existence.
2.) Traffic congestion will always be a main staple in drivers everyday life. Whether it's inside municipalities or open interstate roadways in construction it's not going away.
3.) Dealing with law enforcement is something that we all face. Whether it's at weigh stations or by mobile stops. But there are ways you can protect yourself, the company when such an encounter occurs.
4.) Inclement weather is always just a few days away. Rain, snow, ice, tornados, flooding, fires, etc. It can leave even the best prepared in a dangerous position if we don't plan accordingly.

Before rejoining the oversized load transportation industry, David spent a considerable part of his professional life in law enforcement, graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and later completing a lateral transfer to Kansas, where he retired with the rank of Captain in the Sheriff's office.
He initially relocated to Houston, where he worked as an insurance fraud investigator. Terracom was established in 2018.
We prioritize safety above all else, which is why we meticulously document and detail all our operations using multiple outward-facing high-definition truck cameras, body cameras, LED flashers, strobes, and high-speed rotators. CAMERA SYSTEMS - This is NOT our truck. Camera Installation: Enhancing Accuracy in Accident Investigations.

1. The Fallibility of Human Testimony. Intentional or unintentional, inaccuracies in personal accounts are commonplace. My experience in law enforcement has consistently demonstrated that the individual presenting the most compelling narrative often prevails.

2. The Objectivity of Camera Footage. Cameras provide an unbiased, firsthand account of events. In the aftermath of an accident, one's memory may be clouded by information overload. The sudden adrenaline surge can impair cognitive function, leading to inaccuracies in perception and recollection.

Note: The phenomenon of participants in shootouts, despite being in close proximity, frequently missing their targets can be attributed to the physiological effects of adrenaline, including the dilation of pupils, which can distort spatial awareness and fine motor skills. Again, what you believe you saw may or may not be accurate.

3. The Limitations of Police Investigations. Unless an accident is investigated by a certified crash investigator, the analysis may be speculative. Police reports are often based on witness statements and a cursory examination of the scene, which may not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding the accident.

4. The Consequences of Inaccurate Accident Reporting. Any accident recorded on your driving record can significantly impact your and your company's CSA score. The investigating officer's report carries substantial weight, making it essential to have factual evidence to contradict any inaccuracies.

To address these concerns, we utilize forward and rear-facing cameras, as well as a body camera. These devices are relatively affordable and can be purchased from retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and eBay.

In conclusion, the increasing litigiousness of society necessitates the use of cameras to ensure accuracy in accident investigations. The proliferation of attorney advertising on highways, promising substantial settlements for accidents involving commercial vehicles, underscores the importance of this issue. Further insights into this topic will be provided in my subsequent post.

GOOD PEOPLE STILL EXIST
Pulley broke on the alternator, spun the belts, and I was 2 miles from Tonkawa.
Theres no way I’m going to find a pulley for a N14 cummins celect (1992) and I had overlooked packing tools.
Pulled into Wilkins Truck Chrome. Ive noticed he has a lot of older trucks. Initially the guy i talked to said he didn’t but the owner walked past and so he asked him.
The owner, I think his name was Brian, told me to follow hom as he rummaged through a parts room. He gave me 4. Said try those. If one fits let me know. 1/2 the battle is over.
Start to try and get the altenator off. By now it’s raining. As i said I did not have tools. So i tried everything with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. Not going to happen.
I had to walk to Loves Truck Stop. I wasnt hopeful as it seemed over the years their mechanics had become less than motivated to do anything i had needed help with and never without a high price.
I saw a mechanic (Steven). Told him my issues and said i needed a 19 mm deep socket and wrench.
He never hesitated. Gave me all i needed and never charged a dime Made the job so much easier.

PART 2 MEMPHIS FATAL CRASH

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are dead after a semi-truck crashed into the end of an overpass and caught fire along the interstate near North Watkins Street early Wednesday morning.

Initial reports blamed the crash on the semi truck driver citing he failed to maintain control.

But witnesses are statinh that two Mustangs had been racing before the semi driver crashed. She said they were well over 100 mph when they swerved into traffic ahead of the semi truck.

She said both her and her pasenger began to scream as events unfolded. I thought I was going to witness a crash of total carnage and so many deaths. There was no way for that truck to stop.

Witnesses say at the last minute the tractor trailer driver made a decision. Instead of crashing through stopped cars he turned into the bridge wall, sacrificing himself and the second driver.

We could not get them out she said. It burst into flames when it hit the wall. The fire was so hot.

She says she will never forget that night. I’ve read and hear stories about people who have given the ultimate sacrifice. I didnt know it would be in the form of a truck driver giving his life to save total strangers.

Check out our newest team member! Where old school meets new school tech. This 1992 FLD 120 has been totally revamped from the wheels up. We're talkin' rebuilt Cummins N 14 Celect, 13 over transmission, 4:11 rearend, and a Doubles and Triples frame on the tractor with the 4th as a lift. And because we love a smooth ride, we added new shocks and installed air bags - yeah, this truck never came with those from the factory! We also threw in a roof-mounted 12v AC unit to keep things cool without putting extra strain on the engine. Inside, you'll find all new electronics, forward and aft cameras, and more warning systems than you can shake a stick at. Oh, and did we mention there's no stereo? That's right, no tunes allowed when you're behind the wheel. We have upgraded LED headlamps, clearance, and cab lights, plus custom-made front bumper, bug shield, bow tie, window guards, fenders, and more. And to top it all off, we threw in a wood floor because, why not?
