Elgin KS has been a frequent request so I decided to check it out as well as the neighboring town of Chautauqua. They both have had an interesting history being much larger than they are today. Elgin still has an entire downtown of red bricks although most of the buildings that would’ve lined it are gone or in bad shape. Definitely a fun little trip!

Anthony is the county seat of Harper County, but it wasn’t a simple election that determined it. In the 1870’s 3000 people voted but only 800 people lived in the entire county! Eventually Anthony did secure the county seat and today it has a great downtown, museum, airport, lake, and population of 2108!

The Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville, Texas, (Dallas/Ft Worth area) was once upon a time the largest mall in all of the southwestern United States. It has some impressive architecture and an interesting history. Now it’s just a shell of its former self with just a few stores remaining.
