Float river tubing in to your summer plans. Tubes and shuttle services are provided at these 5 Wisconsin & Minnesota locations. BYO rope to secure the tubes and a beer cooler for the ride down the river.

1. Cannon River (Welch, Minnesota): This photo was taken on the 3 hour Cannon River ride. They offer 2 tubing trails, both calm enough to keep the beer secured in the beer cooler.

2. Apple River (Somerset, Wisconsin): This tubing spot is at the top of my summer bucket list. The Apple River is popular for twin cities residents, best known for its scenic views and lively currents.

3. Root River (Lanesboro, Minnesota): The Root River in southeastern Minnesota offers a more tranquil tubing experience, perfect for families.

4. Kinnickinnic River (River Falls, Wisconsin): The river rout has western Wisconsin’s Driftless landscapes in the back drop.

5. St. Croix River (Taylors Falls, Minnesota/Wisconsin border): The St. Croix River offers you cliff views during your float. Can’t compete with that.

This weekend the Northern Lights are boasting the best visibility in 20 years!

Last night I trekked just North of Grantsburg Wisconsin to get a great view. These celestial wonders dance across the night sky in the polar regions. Created by charged particles from the sun interacting with Earth’s atmosphere, they illuminate the darkness with vibrant hues of green, pink, purple, and blue. In many cases they appear white to the human eye with subtle, colorful glows. Despite the white, they memorized me as they shimmered across the sky.

The only other person viewing in our remote location happened to be a field biologist. She helped us identify the swaths nocturnal animal calls. Talk about a full show.

High Cliff deserves a spotlight. 25ft limestone cliffs stand atop giant, forested hills overlooking Lake Winnebago. If that’s not high enough, climb the 40ft observation tower. Enjoy the view from trails that accommodate hikers and horse back riders, or launch a boat within the park marina to view the cliffs.

A beer garden & top capital city destination! The Intricately painted Thai pavilion at the was gifted by the Thai government and the Thai Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association to UW-Madison. It remains only 1 of 4 Thai Salas located outside of Thailand.

Check out the highly rated along the shores of Lake Monona. You can see the Capitol and enjoy many craft foods - my favorite is the giant pretzel with house mustard. (The bier garten is not open for the season yet, but soon)

Punta Cana - a few more notes from my trip.

Dominican Republic has beautiful beaches and resorts. The palm trees and ocean breeze are sites I want to enjoy during every afternoon nap. I suppose I’ll have to wait until next time.

Next time I would do a few things differently. The resorts keep you in a bubble of relaxation that lacks raw cultural immersion. I would get out of the resort and do some city tours of Santo Domingo, guided mountain hikes, or snorkeling. There were safe areas to visit flee markets and explore towns - they just required a little more research on my end. I would highly recommend these additions to your trip for anyone going to the Dominican Republic. Don’t hesitate to DM me if you have any questions about your trip planning.

There are many sushi restaurants in the foodie cities - upscale Billy Sushi always makes the top charts. The restaurant is nestled along the river in the rustic North Loop neighborhood. They serve a mouth watering display from an array of flavorful options. It’s perfect for a date night or special celebration.

Chef Yia Vang’s deserves fanfare for the flare it brings to the already impressive Minneapolis food scene. His dishes share a unique display of traditional Hmong foods like the pork belly, Khao Sen noodles, and rice pictured. The food is a little expensive. However the flavor, authenticity, and nourished fresh feeling I enjoyed the rest of the day were a nice treat. Vang’s hit restaurant certainly builds a visitor’s appetite for exploring more Hmong cuisine and culture in the Twin Cities.
