Being a creative person by nature, I have always been able to see the beauty in everything around me, even when others couldn't. And, for many years, I dreamed about owning a quaint little boutique where I could create gorgeous displays using old vintage treasures I found and bought on my antiquing excursions. However, I also knew I wanted to get my hands dirty, literally! That's when I started pa

inting my old vintage pieces I had laying around after envisioning them in a fresh new way. Soon enough, friends started asking me to paint their old outdated furniture and they told their friends and so on. Before I realized it, what was once simply a, flight of fancy, had become my reality. I had a thriving furniture restoration and home décor business. I thought it only appropriate to name my business, Flight of Fancy because it was how my dream was born. A few years (and hundreds of furniture pieces) later, I've taken faux finishing classes and honed my skills to set my work apart from the rest. After the work. After everyone else. After you’ve done enough. After, after, after — it always seems to come first.

What if we put “after” as an afterthought instead?

Time is something we never get back. And the time to put yourself first is now. If you’re seeing this — this might be your sign.

I keep thinking about the moment we pull up to the villa. The gravel crunching under the tires. Cypress trees lining the drive. And that first breath where your shoulders just… drop.

This October, I’m taking a small group of women to Tuscany for six days for our La Dolce Far Niente Retreat: a return to rhythm rest. and self. Not a packed itinerary. Not six cities in seven days. Just space — to rest, to think, to remember who you are outside of everyone who needs something from you.

We’ll e-bike through Brunello vineyards. Share a sunset picnic in Pienza. Soak in thermal waters that have been used for centuries. Long dinners where no one’s checking the time.

Ever heard of the website OPULIST?

Ever notice how certain spaces instantly make you feel calmer, more creative, inspired… even happier?

A beautifully designed hotel lobby.
A cozy candlelit wine bar.
A coffee shop where the latte somehow tastes better because of the atmosphere around you.

I recently listened to a podcast about the website Opulist — a curated collection of some of the most aesthetic hotels, cafés, bars, restaurants, and spaces across the U.S. (https://share.google/mIDwRE6XkWVg8Yf27) — and it sparked something I’ve believed for years:

The spaces we surround ourselves with truly impact how we experience life.

Not in a superficial way. In a deeply human way.

Beauty slows us down. Inspires us. Grounds us. Makes ordinary moments feel intentional.

Even something as simple as lighting a candle while working, drinking coffee from your favorite mug, or choosing a hotel that actually evokes a feeling can completely shift your mood and experience.

I think this is one of the reasons I’ve always been so passionate about hotels and travel. The right environment doesn’t just change where you stay… it changes how you feel while you’re there.

And honestly? I think we deserve more beauty in our everyday lives. ✨

Bhutan has quietly made its way onto my personal bucket list lately… and the deeper I dive into it, the more intrigued I become. 🇧🇹

Last night I met with a DMC, Ventours, who specializes in curating journeys throughout this part of the world for travel advisors and their clients, and hearing more about Bhutan only added to the fascination. There’s something about the combination of untouched landscapes, deep spirituality, intentional slow living, and luxury that feels incredibly rare in today’s world.

It seems like the kind of destination that changes you a little bit after experiencing it — not just another trip you check off a list.
