The U.S. State Department lowered the beautiful island of Jamaica's 🇯🇲 Travel Advisory from Level 3 (Reconsider Travel) to Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution). This update reflects improved travel conditions following the country's recovery from Hurricane Melissa!

The advisory level was decreased to Level 2. There were no changes to the risk indicators. The advisory summary was updated.

Delta Airline’s global network continues to focus on supporting customers following the federal government’s shutdown and recent reopening of Caribbean airspace.

Delta is committed to restoring connectivity and providing more options for affected travelers, ensuring they are re-accommodated as quickly as possible.

Here are important updates following the reopening of Caribbean airspace.

Expanded Service & Additional Seats
*A travel waiver remains in effect for travel to and from the 13 affected Caribbean destinations through January 6, allowing changes without fees.

*Over 2,600 additional seats have been added for Monday, January 5 across Delta’s Caribbean network to supplement our normal schedule.

*15 extra flights have been added today from
St. Croix (STX)
St. Lucia (UVF)
St. Thomas (STT)
San Juan (SJU)
Bonaire (BON)
Grenada (GND)
Aruba (AUA)
Saint Vincent (SVD)
Barbados (BGI)
Curacao (CUR)
St. Maarten (SMX).
Several scheduled flights have been upgraded to larger aircraft to increase capacity.

Important Operational Notes
*Please arrive at LEAST three hours early due to increased airport traffic.

*Travelers without confirmed reservations should wait to visit the airport until rebooked to avoid congestion.

After the United States’ military action in Venezuela on Saturday, several hundred flights to and from the Caribbean were canceled.
