This year’s Brake Safety Week is scheduled for Aug. 22-28.

During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors will be conducting inspections and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations.

Brake system and brake adjustment violations account for more violations than any other violation category.

A proper safety inspection is the first step in identifying any violations.

If any defects or deficiencies are discovered, please complete a DVIR and contact your Company's Road Service team for repairs.

Most likely Tropical outcome Greater HouTX area near term

There is a slight risk of the tropical wave in the Caribbean ... [ becoming a hurricane ] once it reaches the southwest Gulf of Mexico, a 20% chance according to the National Hurricane Center.

Regardless of development, I will continue to point out that heavy rain here in southeast Texas is the most likely outcome. 2-4” is likely between Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Over 6” is possible is some spots. That’s enough to cause street flooding and rapid water rise on the bayous. Bayou flooding is not expected but needs to be monitored, like we should do in every rain event. ..."

What is George doing here you might ask?

Well, to honest I'm not sure.

Perhaps I should have started a group rather than this page.

I've invited other other OTR, LTL and Local drivers that I know hoping to get some discussion going about where each of us as a driver is going and/or wants to be in five years as far as driving a truck for a living goes.

I will caution anyone who comments here that this is a public page and you should keep that in mind when you say something.

It might be best not to refer to specific companies nor individuals.

Just think of this as a place to hang out your goals as a driver or administrator in the Wide Wide World of Transportation.

Most everyone invited, so far, is an active driver or administrators but some are retired.

By administrator I mean anyone who is or has been a safety officer, dispatcher, fleet manager, planner, customer service representative, load finder, broker, or even higher level management in the Wide Wide World of Transportation.

You might be suprised who you'll find here.

Remember this a place to talk about and ask questions about goals for yourself and for the industry.

Let's try not to make it a beach board, if you know what I mean.
