September means one thing in my world: frantic phone calls from clients who just realized their annual game weekend needs a hotel booking, and all the good spots are already gone.

Here's what I know about booking sports travel: the best game day hotels don't wait for you to get around to planning. They disappear faster than tickets to a playoff game, often months in advance.

Whether you're planning:
College football rivalries: Those historic matchups where the whole town shuts down and hotel rates prove supply and demand is very real
NFL road trips: Following your team or finally seeing that stadium you've been talking about for years
Conference championships: Because someone in your group always says "we'll figure out where to stay later" (spoiler: later is now)
The difference between a great sports weekend and a disaster often comes down to location. You want the hotel that's walking distance from the stadium, or at least on the shuttle route, not the one that requires a 45-minute Uber through game-day traffic.
