We’re looking for experienced drivers to join our team! Both positions offer competitive pay, consistent schedules, and excellent benefits. We have been in business for 62 years with no layoffs, we are busy!

🛣️Position 1: Regional Heavy Haul Driver

*Route: Primarily I-5 Corridor with occasional trips to Eastern Oregon & Washington
*Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11–12 hour days
*Home Time: Most nights at home; possible 1–2 nights out per week
*Pay: Flat rate per load + extra for multi-drops; incentive pay after 90 days
*Equipment: Assigned truck & trailer (CAT-powered, 18-speed, no automatics)

🏗️ Position 2: Scrap Steel Heavy Hauler – Eugene to Portland

*Route: Two round trips daily between Eugene and Portland
*Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12–13 hour days
*Home Time: Home every night and weekends off
*Equipment: Assigned truck & trailer (CAT-powered, 18-speed, no automatics)

✅ Requirements for Both Positions

*Minimum 2 years CDL experience - preferred, willing to train the right person with at least one year experience.
*Acceptable driving record
*Experience strapping lumber loads preferred
*TWIC preferred but not required
*No pets or riders (insurance policy)
*Trucks can be parked at our Vancouver or Longview yards - For position one.

Introduction to Darin and Melissa Olson:

Darin spent the later years of his childhood working alongside his dad in the shop maintaining trucks. He later went on to college and drove his own truck to cover his expenses. In what seemed as a natural progression, Darin came on board to help with the management of Joel Olson Trucking in the early 90’s.
Carole Olson hired Melissa in September 1995 as an office employee. Sometime later Darin asked Melissa on a date. They took a liking to each other and a few years later, tied the knot on 4/1. Together they have one son, Addison, who is following his father's footsteps by maintaining trucks at the Vancouver location. Darin has two other successful children who have chosen to go a different path.
Darin runs the day-to-day operations at Joel Olson Trucking as Vice President. Melissa went on to write a book, Broken Girl Fly, and serves the community. You will spot Melissa in the office from time-to-time lending a hand but most of the company work is done remotely.

2024 Christmas Parade in Longview, WA. We love seeing the young and old smiles when our trucks roll through. They always do the fist pump, signaling to blow the horn. When we do, those smiles always get bigger! Love this and bringing joy to those around!!!

Joel Olson Trucking, Inc. was founded 1962, by Joel and Carole Olson. They purchased a 1957 Ford Dump Truck for $4700. His first independent job was with Longview Fiber Company hauling rock in the extinct town of Valsetz, OR. Six years later in 1968, Joel bought four log trucks and began hauling logs for L. Jepson and Sons.
Joel and Carole had two sons, Darin and Craig while living in Lincoln City, OR. In 1977 they moved to Clatskanie, OR to work in the Longview Fibre Sorting Yard. As the work presented itself, the company grew to include chip trucks, flatbeds, box trucks, curtain vans, end dumps, a lowboy and some heavy equipment used in the woods.
In a natural progression, Darin Olson primarily runs the day-to-day operations, as the VP. He and his wife Melissa Olson own and run their own fleet as well.

This picture is Mr. Joel Olson and Mrs. Carole Olson in the earlier days of the company goofing around. They are both still active in the company's day to day activities.

Decades later, Joel Olson Trucking, Inc. is still a family run business.
