🛳️ Do you need a passport to go on a cruise?

This is one of those questions where the answer is sometimes no… but I’m still going to recommend YES. 😉

For many closed-loop cruises that leave from and return to the same U.S. port, U.S. citizens may be able to cruise with an approved birth certificate and government-issued photo ID instead of a passport.

But here’s my travel advisor advice: If you can get a passport, cruise with one.

Why? Because the unexpected doesn’t care that you’re on vacation.

If you have a medical emergency in another country, miss the ship in port, or need to fly home unexpectedly, traveling without a passport can turn an already stressful situation into a much bigger headache.

And one important detail: cruise line requirements and destination requirements can vary, so never assume that because you cruised without a passport before, you can do it on your next sailing.

A passport is one of those things you hope you never need on a cruise, but if you do need it, you’ll be very glad you have it.

My rule? Protect the vacation you’ve worked hard for. Get the passport. 💙

Already have one? Go check that expiration date. You might be surprised how quickly those ten years disappeared. 😂

I want to share a very real moment with you today. 🤍

Today, I’m moving my girl to college.

And if I’m being completely transparent, I’m struggling with this one a little more than I expected.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve found myself holding onto the ordinary moments. Sitting together. Watching TV. Running errands. Talking about nothing and everything. I realized somewhere along the way that this was probably our last true summer break together before life starts looking different.

So if I’ve been a little slower returning a message or getting a quote sent over, I hope you’ll give me a little grace. I haven’t forgotten about you or your trip. I’ve simply been soaking up every last minute I could with Clare before this next chapter begins.

My business is called Steeped in Purpose for a reason. And I’m learning that being purposeful doesn’t always mean doing more.

Sometimes it means closing the laptop.

Sometimes it means letting the to-do list wait.

Sometimes it means recognizing that the thing needing your attention most isn’t a booking, an email, or a deadline. It’s the person sitting beside you. 🤍

Today, that person is my girl.

Thank you for trusting me with your travels and for giving me the space to be a mom, too. I’ll be catching up on messages and quotes, but today I’m giving myself permission to be fully present for this moment.

Because trips can be rescheduled. Emails can wait a little while.

But you don’t get these days back. 🤍
