TOP 10 ENGINE WINTERIZATION TIPS:
1) Change all oils and inspect old oils for contamination of any kind (look for milky and/or metallic colors)
2) Start and run engine to wash and lubricate parts with new oil
3) Remove heat exchanger end plates to check for debris and replace gaskets
4) Inspect sea water pump for leakage and replace impeller or rebuild pump
5) Inspect exhaust system of leaks (important safety issue)
6) Run appropriate anti-freeze through sea water circuit to protect muffler from freezing
7) Inspect all hoses for leaks, chafing, age cracks and/or rot
8) Test anti-freeze for freeze point
9) Consider repacking prop shaft gland
10) Top off fuel tank to reduce condensation space
