This Memorial Day, we pause with deep gratitude. At our joint‑use home with Wright Army Airfield and Fort Stewart, we honor the Soldiers, Airmen, Aviators, and all service members who gave their lives in defense of our nation. Their courage in the skies and on the ground continues to shape the freedoms we live under today.

As a community that serves, supports, and flies alongside our military partners, we remember their sacrifice with humility and respect. Today, we honor. Today, we remember. Today, we extend a heartfelt Hooah!✈️❤️🤍💙

Congratulations to Clayin Cassell, recipient of the Heath Aviation 2026 Student Pilot Scholarship Award! ✈️

Clayin’s passion for aviation began early — starting flight lessons at just 15 years old and completing his first solo flight at 16. But beyond his love for flying, one thing became very clear during the scholarship process: Clayin is no stranger to hard work.

Over the past several years, Clayin has worked on his grandfather’s farm to help pay for his own flight lessons. From caring for cows, donkeys, goats, chickens, and pigs, to assisting with the management and maintenance of approximately 24 rental properties, his work ethic speaks volumes about the kind of young man he is. As his mother proudly shared, “He’s a young man learning skills for life!”

When receiving the award, Clayin shared:

“I'm truly honored and grateful to receive this scholarship. Thank you to everyone who made this possible and for believing in students like me. As a homeschooling senior, pilot, and welder, I’ve learned that hard work, discipline, and determination can open doors to incredible opportunities.

This scholarship encourages me to keep pursuing my goals and continue building a future doing what I love. When we received the call that I had won the scholarship, I was truly speechless! Thank you again for your support and investment in my future. It means more than words can express.”

We are incredibly proud to support the next generation of aviators and cannot wait to see where the skies take you next, Clayin. ✈️👏

Picture it: hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, maybe even food trucks and a local radio station on site 🎶🍔🌭 Now we just need to know — who’s interested?

Friendly reminder that all application materials for the HEATH AVIATION PILOT SCHOLARSHIP are due this Sunday, May 10, 2026.
This scholarship provides such a meaningful opportunity for an aspiring pilot to begin their aviation training right here at MidCoast Regional Airport — a chance that can open doors, build flight hours, and launch a future career in aviation.

Be sure to submit your completed packet (application, permission form, waiver, and essay) in a sealed, labeled envelope to the front desk at MidCoast Regional Airport. Be sure to label the envelope: APPLICATION FOR HEATH AVIATION, LLC PILOT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD.

"We’re continuing to focus on bringing in advanced manufacturing, aviation, and defense-related industries—building on investments at Tradeport West and planned improvements at MidCoast Regional Airport at Wright Army Airfield. These efforts are all about creating long-term opportunities, strengthening our workforce, and supporting smart, sustainable growth."

The Liberty County Development Authority plans to expand MidCoast Regional Airport and has done advance site preparation at Tradeport West to attract industry and manufacturers.
