September 21, 2010—Interiors by Dawn was born.
As Bob Iger says best, it truly has been “the ride of a lifetime.” Today marks the beginning of year 16, and I’m filled with deep gratitude.
Owning a small business isn’t glamorous. It’s not a shortcut to freedom or a guaranteed path to success. It’s hard. It’s relentless. It’s waking before the sun and going to bed with a mind that won’t shut off. It’s sacrificing weekends, holidays, milestones—and sometimes your own peace of mind—to keep the wheels turning. And it’s not just your sacrifice; it becomes your family’s and friends’ too.
There are no entitlements here. Nothing is handed to you. Every win is earned. Every setback is a lesson—sometimes a very costly one. Some weeks, you don’t get paid so your team can. You learn quickly to wear every hat it takes to keep the business alive. It demands resilience, grit, and a level of dedication most won’t understand. But I wouldn’t trade the hardest lessons I’ve learned—and continue to learn—for anything. Because without failure and hard work, there’s no growth. No progress. No pride. You don’t stumble into success. You build it—with your own two hands and a whole lot of sweat. 🇺🇸
Yes, the project queue is often booked 8 to 15 months out. I receive a tremendous amount of inquiries, and I do my best to get back to everyone, but I am only one and fail at time, I do apologize. But I’m intentionally scaling back to focus on the work that aligns with my passion and purpose – it’s about doing what matters most. I’m prioritizing projects that value my uniqueness & design skills. I am grateful for everyone!
Here’s to the next chapter—more growth, more design.
With gratitude and excitement,
– Dawn
