All you hearty Descendants of Kings Mountain, I just want to remind you about the Smithpeter grave marking tomorrow. Dave Carr sent the latest update below. This is a joint program between Watauga, Kings Mountain, and the Daniel Morgan Chapter in SC. It will be a great day to honor a Kings Mountain veteran on top of the mountains in the cool air with the beauty of the fall foliage. Come on over, present a wreath, serve in the color guard, photograph the event, maybe even catch a bear running across the hill. It promises to be another great event for SAR, OVTA, and DBKM. There will be a large turnout of Smithpeter descendants and the new marker is beyond description. You’ll have to see it to appreciate it! As the Wataugan’s in 1780 we need a show of force! See you tomorrow! Tim Massey, pres.

Compatriots,
The Smithpeter Grave Marking will be on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2pm.
Stout/Matherly Cemetery
Across from 15446 Hwy 67W
Butler TN 37640

The Cemetery is not visible from the highway, but Chris Cox will have signs at the driveway entrance
on the right. Be aware of two problems, the gravel driveway is quite steep and rough going up to the
cemetery and parking is limited to 10 or 12 vehicles max.. A regular automobile might get damaged
trying to climb the hill.

Paul Cashion, descendant of the patriot, has arranged for one of his cousins to run a shuttle from Butler
to the cemetery (about 1 1/2 miles).. Paul said he will have a large vehicle, like a church van to make
the transfer.. There will be plenty of room for wreaths and muskets on the shuttle.

I encourage you to park in Butler and take the shuttle as we expect a large group attending.

As you enter Butler, watch for SAR signs that direct you to turn left on Piercetown Rd. and follow the signs
to the church parking lot.

The drive to Butler is spectacular with the fall colors that I am sure you will enjoy.

A link to a new one-of-a-kind audio docudrama is an entirely new way to appreciate and learn and was created by inaugural American Battlefield Trust Youth Leadership Team. This was just released today.

This is an audio documentary in three parts that follows key figures through the Revolutionary War battle of Kings Mountain, South Carolina, bringing the extant writings and words of the past to life.

For those of you who enjoyed the post yesterday about Patriots at King’s Mountain, the website that PDF came from is called https://www.carolana.com/ and it has so much history involving the Carolina’s. Haven’t been able to browse it all but what I have seen is pretty good, especially if you have ancestors from that region.

Some of you may have already seen this, but I ran across it today while researching. It is a PDF of the known (at the time) Patriots at King's Mtn. Thought some may be interested. -Joshua
