Tybee Island is a beautiful barrier island just off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. Voted "Georgia's Best Beach" in 2008 & 2009 by readers of Georgia Magazine. This page is maintained by the Tybee Island Tourism Council. With five miles of uninterrupted public beach, you can stroll, swim or snooze to your heart’s content. The fish are jumping. The dolphins are playing just a hundred yards out. And

you’re drinking a cold one without ever leaving your beach chair. Life is almost too good here. Just a few miles east of Historic Savannah, Georgia, Tybee Island will tempt you with its eclectic style, thriving natural habitat and easy-going personality. Kids love it too. Watch the shrimp boats scoop up delicious Georgia shrimp, just in time for dinner that night. Ride a bike on the hard-packed sand as enormous cargo ships glide on the edge of the horizon. Climb to the top of our historic 1773 lighthouse and see the world like never before. There are no high-rise condos to block your view. Just plenty of charming, colorful cottages, palm trees, unusual local shops, eateries and galleries to fit your mood. And flip-flops are the only must-have accessory. Getting around is easy too. You can walk, drive, rent a bike or even a scooter.
