It feels like I’ve neglected my inner Emeril. Here’s a foto dump of things I ate the last month before birthing the little one.
1. Fig Currant Fruity Oats
2. Electrolyte Berry Sip with Honey/ Tajín rim. (This was a staple when going into labor. Probably the last thing I consumed. Thank you Aaron💫)
3. Okay Papaya
4. Buttery Cacao Oat Soup
5. Steamed Onion, Broccoli, Carrots, Green Apple & Pintos
6. Foraged Chickweed + Miner’s Lettuce Salad with Lime, Avo, and Rosemary
7. Eggs, Tocino, Papas, Cebolla
8. Golden Beets + Squash, Cabbage pickle & Roasted Habanero salsa over Quinoa
9. Scramble con Papas, thick buttery Sourdough & same salsa
10. Fat lil BLTA with more fresh foraged Miner’s Lettuce
I didn’t eat meat for a good portion of my life. Then I did, then I didn’t. These days what I’m eating is intuitive, seasonal and source based. If I notice my milk supply needs a boost, I drink cacao. When I’m in excess, I let myself have more fruit which can sometimes lower my production. It’s been fun foraging too. Every season has something new. Latest noms were trout, and some cat tails on the cob from our river. Fish came from the upper Kern. 🌾
Probably my most favorite was the delicious raw milk from a dear neighbor, she gave us fresh bread too. I was grossed out by milk for a while. My mom would pasteurize the raw milk my dad would bring home from our cows and sneak it into the fridge tricking us into thinking it was from the store. I tried raw goats milk while working on a farm up north and that’s the only way I’ll have a glass now. All to say that it’s a joy and pleasure to relate to food in different ways as the seasons of my body flux.
That’s all for now on food stuff ty 🐟
