Easter- Why we celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
Originally, man was in communion with God in the garden of Eden. Until sin entered in through disobedience, and caused a separation between God and man. Romans 5:12 says "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"
The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin (Hebrews 9:22)
2 Corinthians 5:19 says that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself.
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. (John 1:10)
Hebrews 10:10 & Romans 5:9 says we are sanctified by the body of Jesus and justified by His blood being saved from the wrath through Him.
After He died and was buried, He rose again the third day and showed Himself to His disciples. Then He told them to go wait in Jerusalem until they receive power from on high (His Spirit)
Luke 24:46-47, 49 (Jesus speaking) Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high
The disciples obeyed the Lord and went to Jerusalem and had a prayer meeting in an upper room, about 120 people including Mary the mother of Jesus.
While they were praying and waiting for the promise, Jesus poured out his spirit upon all of them and they began to speak in other tongues magnifying and praising those Lord as the Holy Ghost filled them and gave them the utterance. They received the power from on high!
(Acts 2:1-4)
Then we see in Acts 2:38 that Peter preached repentance (turning from sin and our way of living, recognizing Jesus and His ways as truth) and remission of sins through baptism in the name of Jesus. This is how we apply the blood of Jesus to our life's and receive the remission for our sins.
John 16:7 & 13 (Jesus tells His disciples) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you (which is the Holy Ghost/Spirit John 14:26) but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth:
This is why Jesus came and died for us. He paid the penalty of our sin and gave us His Spirit. He was perfect, tempted in every way that we are, yet without sin. Making Him the perfect spotless lamb of God and the only one worthy to take our place and die for us, shedding His blood for all of those who might believe on Him as the scriptures have said, and have eternal life in Him!
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
โญโญGod made remission of sins and His Spirit available unto ALL of us through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. This is why we celebrate Easter.
This life is short, and the things of this world do not matter in comparison to eternity. Consider eternity and life that is fleeting. What in this life is worth your soul? Seek the Lord and find Him for yourself, while there is still time to find Him. Pray and read your Bible and He will reveal Himself to you.
If you would like to celebrate Jesus with us this Sunday and join us at church please reach out, we would be honored to have you.
God bless you all and Happy Easter!
