Public comment given by Transit Now Tampa Bay lead organizer Dayna Lazarus at this year's Transportation Improvement Program public hearing on 6/10/26! Every June, the Transportation Planning Organization Board approves this document, which contains plans for federal funds. Dayna has sat on the board's Citizen's Advisory Committee for 9 years, trying to make a difference in how we prioritize funding.

Meet Ron! Ron loves public transit. He often takes route 360lx to visit his family in Brandon, and he rides the 34 to work. He owns a car, but prefers to take the bus because it's more enjoyable, and he can save money for other things like rent and traveling. Ron shared recently with TNTB that he was inspired by the success of the Route 1 Pilot Program to create a photo book of things and places you can see along the entire route. The photos document a Tampa and Hillsborough County that are on a precipice at this one moment in time, capturing an incredible diversity of locations, including those only real Tampa area natives will know, as well as recognizable major hotspots along the route. Ron said he hopes the book will open people's eyes to the world that public transit provides access to. He's a fierce advocate for transit, yet with the way things are going, he's recently considered moving to a place like Pittsburgh or Atlanta simply for better transit access.

Today, 23 transit leaders canvassed for transit along Route 1! HUGE thanks to all those who attended and contributed to our kickoff event to collect bus rider stories and let people know about our two endorsed candidates: Neil Manimala For Hillsborough County Commission and Aileen Rodriguez For Hillsborough County Commission, both running for district wide Hillsborough County Commission seats! They're running against two commissioners who have demonstrated over the last 4 years that they are very anti-transit, anti-affordable housing, and anti-our collective VISION for a better Tampa Bay and World 🚍🚉🌎

The recently announced route cuts will go into effect on June 7th. Please don't let anyone who used routes 24LX, 25LX, and HARTFlex South County sit on a bench in the heat waiting for a bus that never comes.

Starting Sunday, June 7, 2026, HART will implement service changes to improve service efficiency and reliability

Updates include:
⏱️ Improved weekday frequency on Route 38
🔁 Schedule adjustments on select routes
🔄 Routing changes for Routes 5 and 12 in Ybor City

❌ Discontinuation of Route 24LX, Route 25LX, and HARTFlex South County
➡️ Alternative options for discontinued routes include Route 360LX (Route 24LX/Route 25LX), Enterprise Vanpool, and Sunshine Line for eligible riders.

What *should* HART's multimodal service look like in 2027? Here is what was envisioned back in 2017. Can you imagine having 15 minute service criss-crossing the City, and 20 minute service taking you into East and South County and over the Howard Frankland into St. Pete? And yes, they absolutely envisioned ferry service from Apollo Beach to MacDill before that was taken from us. This vision was never funded because we didn't invest in our system. Instead, we're seeing CUTS to service frequency and routes.

We could still have this, we just have to INVEST! According to the Blogspot article linked below, it would require an increase of only about $25 per year on a homeowner's property taxes. Would you be willing to pay that?
