We had a great turnout this weekend for the Plan STL Area 4 Walking Audit along the N. Grand Blvd corridor. Residents and partners came together with Rise and the YPs to walk the corridor, share insights, and help shape a community-driven vision for the future.

From connectivity and access to placemaking and local destinations, the conversations and lived experiences shared brought real depth to the planning process. We are grateful for the strong engagement across generations and the continued partnership driving this work forward.

This past Tuesday, Planning Area IV hosted a community meeting at Friendly Temple Church, and Rise Young Professionals were proud to attend and volunteer

Planning Area IV is part of the City’s PlanSTL Neighborhood Planning Initiative, bringing together seven neighborhoods—College Hill, Fairground, O’Fallon, Penrose, Hamilton Heights, Kingsway West, and Wells-Goodfellow—to create a shared, action-focused plan for the future.

Together with partners at Rise, MKSK Studios, Development Strategies, and Added Dimension, this work centers on community voices and focuses on housing, retail, mobility, parks, and workforce development to drive real investment and impact.

We’re grateful to be part of the work and excited to keep showing up for our communities 💛

Charles Bryson is the policy catalyst for Trailnet. Trailnet is a St. Louis nonprofit whose mission is to foster healthy, active, and vibrant communities where walking, bicycling, and public transit are a way of life. Trailnet believes everyone should have access to safe, low-stress walking and biking connections where we live, work, and play in our communities.

Charles has extensive experience working in nonprofits and various positions within city government, including as special advisor to former St. Louis mayor Francis Slay, then as director of public safety, and finally as director for the Civil Rights Enforcement Agency.
