This tiny island in the Grenadines has almost no development, no cruise traffic, and one marquee address: Mandarin Oriental.

What do my clients love most once they're here?

The Jim Fazio golf course, the only championship 18 in the Grenadines, ideally finished with the concierge's ch*****ne setup at the 13th hole for sunset. A boat across to the Tobago Cays to swim with wild sea turtles, fitting for an island whose name comes from the Arawak word for turtle. And Shell Beach, a curve of white sand you reach by golf buggy or kayak and will very likely have to yourselves.

That dinner on the beach looks effortless. The planning behind it is not.

A private setup depends on timing, weather, dietary needs, the right table, and a team that knows what the occasion is meant to feel like. The same is true for airport assistance, a guide at the exact right hour, connecting rooms, or a surprise waiting after arrival.

These details rarely appear in the headline itinerary, but they are often what clients remember. I track them early, confirm them again, and make sure they work with the rest of the day. A special moment loses some of its appeal if everyone arrives rushed or hungry.

Building a trip around food? The hard part is not finding one famous table. It is making the meals work with the itinerary.

A destination breakfast, lunch over the water, dinner beside the coast, and a Michelin reservation can each be worth planning around. They should not all compete for the same day. The best food trips leave room for appetite, travel time, and an unplanned meal that turns out to be a favorite.

I look at reservation windows, the distance from the hotel, lunch versus dinner, and which experience deserves the anchor position. A celebrated restaurant can shape the route, but it should never make the rest of the trip feel like a commute.

Here’s why it matters. A clear number lets me make smart trade-offs on your behalf: where spending more genuinely changes the trip (the right room category, the private guide, the once-in-a-lifetime day) and where it quietly doesn’t.

The Orient Express is now a ship. Not just any ship: the largest sailing yacht ever built.

Corinthian began sailing this summer, and the numbers barely capture it. Three masts rising 328 feet. Just 54 suites across 722 feet of yacht. Five restaurants overseen by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, plus a 1930s-style speakeasy and a Parisian cabaret at sea.

The interiors reinterpret the golden age of ocean liners with contemporary French craftsmanship, and the itineraries are refreshingly flexible: voyages of one to four nights that combine without repeating a single port.

The Mediterranean season runs through October, then the yacht crosses to the Caribbean for winter. First seasons of ships like this become the ones people talk about for years.

The Mediterranean has been mapped, cruised, and photographed within an inch of its life. Somehow, Malta still flies under the radar. Here's what to know before everyone else catches on.

Valletta is Europe's smallest capital, walkable end to end in twenty minutes, and its cathedral holds Caravaggio's largest painting, the only one he ever signed.

Mdina, the walled Silent City, clears out when the day-trippers leave. A single small palazzo hotel lets you sleep inside the walls.

Gozo is a 25-minute ferry away, with temples older than the pyramids and dive sites serious divers cross Europe for.

And the logistics are a gift. Everything is about thirty minutes from everything else, English is an official language, and Valletta's old palazzos are being restored into small, characterful hotels one by one.

My favorite cure for a red-eye into London isn't in London at all.

Heckfield Place is a Georgian manor on 400 acres in Hampshire, 45 minutes from Heathrow, restored over nearly a decade and now holding two Michelin Keys. The food is the headline here. The estate has its own biodynamic farm, dairy, and orchards, the first hotel garden in the UK to earn biodynamic certification, and its restaurant Marle holds a Green Michelin Star for cooking almost entirely from what the land produces.

Between meals, there's more to fill a stay than seems fair. Walled gardens, lake walks, wellies waiting by the door, the Bothy spa hidden through the garden wall, and a 45-seat screening room for the evening.

I love it as the first or final stop of a UK itinerary. Arrive jet-lagged, leave restored. Message me to start planning.

What happens when you cross a classic safari with the Australian Outback?

You get Bamurru Plains, a ten-bungalow camp on a private station in Australia's Top End. The early wake-ups and the sundowners made the trip from Africa. Everything else is pure Australia.

Game drives by airboat, flying over floodplains at speed with your guide spotting wildlife the whole way. Wild buffalo on the banks and saltwater crocs in the shallows, sometimes close enough to count their teeth. And serious birdlife, over 230 species on this one station, including sunrise takeoffs of magpie geese by the thousands.

Back at camp, the bungalows are raised above the wetlands with mesh walls in place of glass, so you fall asleep to the sounds of the floodplain and wake up to wallabies grazing below your deck.

The season runs roughly May through October, and I like to pair it with Kakadu's ancient rock art and a night or two in Darwin. Message me to start planning.

A five-star hotel named The Thief? Yes, and I love telling clients the story behind it.

The hotel stands on Tjuvholmen, “Thief Island,” once the haunt of Oslo’s smugglers and outlaws. Today it’s the city’s most stylish address, part gallery and part hotel, with original works by Andy Warhol and other major artists throughout and the Astrup Fearnley Museum of contemporary art literally next door.

The waterfront location is the other draw. Harbor-view rooms with balconies, a rooftop for summer evenings, and the Oslofjord right outside, where locals take to floating saunas year-round. Cold plunge optional, memorable either way.

Oslo makes a brilliant city stop before Norway’s fjords or a northern lights itinerary. I’ll connect the pieces. Get in touch.
