We’re back! It’s been a bit since we have been rolling, but here we are. The last year has been a different kind of journey, so we thought we’d give you the short version to catch you up.

Summer 2023 we spent in Maine (we posted several times while there). We ended up having to leave early. We had some paperwork to take care of in South Dakota and ended up having to make some emergency RV repairs while there – a broken leaf-spring will do that to you. Once back on the road we headed straight to the panhandle of Texas where a family member needed our assistance as she was mid-chemo treatments, had just moved, and there are no other family members in the area to help her and her husband. We stayed for a couple weeks until she was back on her feet and then we headed to check on family in the South.

Jessica’s dad had been slowing declining in health over the summer but seemed to be holding his own in a plateau upon our arrival to Louisiana. We were preparing for departure back to Texas when her dad took a turn and ended up bedridden. We were in the position to stay and help and so we did. To be able to give back to family when they are most in need is truly a gift and a privilege. Dad passed away the end of February. We wanted to stay in town for a little while to help Mom adjust to a new way of life.

An opportunity with Gate Guarding (private security) came available right up the road (an hour each way), so we took it. So from May until the end of August we worked 12 hour nights, kept an eye on Mom and did some chores and maintenance around yard. If you have ever worked that kind of shift and burnt the candle at the other end as well, you will understand why we needed a break! We wrapped up September with RV maintenance and Mom’s chore list before heading out 2 weeks shy of a year.

Meanwhile we sold our F250 and upgraded the tow vehicle! We are taking a short vacation and then will be back in Texas to work for the winter. Videos and more pictures of the new-to-us truck soon!

So wow 2 post in two days. Hahahaha

So the meteor shower wasn’t that prolific this evening saw a few decent ones. But not like the past 3 or so nights.

But Mars and Jupiter were again almost perfectly in line. So I again attempted a few pics.

So been a minute since I have posted anything. Working nights has a few benefits. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Also being out in the middle of nowhere the light pollution is less so can see some spectacular views.

Currently in the middle of the middle of the Perseids meteor showers and it hasn’t disappointed. The past few nights have seen about one meteor a minute.

But tonight I saw Jupiter and Mars they were literally almost inline with each other. You could hardly see the separation between them. Sorry the picture isn’t better, night photography is hard.

We did a little bike ride on the carriage roads in Acadia today.

It was beautiful!!! Will have to hit some other areas before we depart.

Ship Harbor hike. Was a short hike. But the best part is that we saw stuff that we wouldn’t have seen a year and half ago.

Bass Harbor Lighthouse

We officially got to our 1st Maine light house. Maine has LOTS of light houses. We probably won’t be able to see them all this summer. But we will definitely add to our collection of lighthouse. Hahahah

So a bit of a photo dump. The J’s have had a busy 1st month here at the KOA. The weather is getting a bit warmer and things are picking up.

Week 2

We were busy 🐝 getting the campground ready to open.

Weather was extremely nice or cold. Hahaha

We started to get out a see some stuff. Bar Harbor itself.

Jonas even got himself a hat made. Lol

We also started to get our site set up too. Installed the “garage” as Jess calls it. It’s the nose cover. The canopy up and her wind chimes.

First week in Maine!

The J’s first week. Was busy. Got in on a Wednesday and started working on Thursday morning.

This year is different than last. We were one of the 1st couples here and have been participating in getting the park ready for opening. It’s been interesting. We have seen all kinds of things.

The weather is has been bipolar. Some really great days with some cold and raw days. But it’s still great!

We are loving the community that the team has here.
