The South Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department operates three modern f
ire trucks: Engine #1 is a 2002 Freighliner chasis with a 1,200 gal/minute pump and a 1,000 gal tank, 1600 feet of 4 in hose as well as an assortment of other sized hoses. Engine #2 is a 1987 Chevy minipumper with a 750 gal/min pump and a 200 gal supply tank. Engine #3, a tanker, is a 1986 International with a 750 gal/min pump and water capacity of 2,300 gals. A fourth vehicle is a forestry truck, a 1986 Pierce, that carries an assortment of wild-land fire-fighting tools, such as rakes, shovels, and forestry hose and pack pumps. The South Woodstock Fire House has been designated a Red Cross Relief Station. The South Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the local community for over 50 years, but now we desperately need new volunteers to continue this vital community service without interruption. Dissolution of the South Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department due to a lack of new volunteers would substantially decrease the safety of South Woodstock homeowners by lengthening the emergency response times and would significantly raise the real estate taxes for all South Woodstock residents. Please call Charlie Gilley, 802-457-3709
or Gordon Holmes, 802-356-4950 to volunteer or to ask any questions. Fire House Community Activities:
