It’s 2014 and it’s time for a repeal of the ban on Sunday Hunting on private land in Virginia. The decision to allow hunting on one’s own land should be the choice of the landowner, every day of the week. The law banning Sunday hunting dates back to the colonial era and is clearly outdated; now, only 5 states in the U.S. ban hunting on Sunday on private property. Citizens can participate in myriad activities on Sundays, including fishing, riding, boating, purchasing alcohol, target shooting on private and public lands, or watching a NASCAR race, just to name a few -- why should hunting be limited? The general firearms hunting season encompasses only 49 days of the year; hunting on Sundays will allow hunters to get more usage out of the short time they are allotted. Partially repealing the ban will enable our state’s blue-collar workers who work 5, 6 or 7 days a week to hunt on their few days off. It will also allow more time for our youth to hunt, as many children have sports and school activities on Saturdays or may have parents that work Saturdays. It is important to preserve the centuries-old tradition of hunting for generations to come. Virginia’s ban on Sunday hunting on private land has outgrown its usefulness and needs to be repealed in 2014. Attached to this email you will find further information about Sunday Hunting and Virginia’s declining license sales.

HB #1237 is the ultimate compromise.

Please consider sending your delegate an email. We will list them in the next post. We had Freakshow Custom Calls wholeheartedly support the repeal of the ban on Sunday hunting.
