I had an amazing 5 days in Chicago Attending Abilities Expo with my colleagues from Fora.
Arrived between thunderstorms, spent an evening sheltering in a bathroom as a set of tornados rolled through — a far safer option for my wheelchair using colleague than a stairwell — and then flew out into a stunning sunset.
We spoke with hundreds of people who had no idea an accessible travel advisor even existed. More times than I can count, someone would look at me with this hopeful, almost tearful expression and say, “This is incredible. I never thought I could travel again… maybe I can.” And more often than not, they were choked up — and of course, every single time, so was I.

Had howler monkeys outside my room this morning! Saw an amazing sunset at Hotel Bosque del mar, playa Hermosa. Super accessible property, 35 rooms, GF accomodating, and lovely location.

Moved onto the Westin Playa Conchal - Costa Rica and W Costa Rica - Reserva Conchal , today. Checking out accessibility in the all inclusive space.
Got an amazing tour of the properties, swam, saw the sunset, and am calling it a day!

Beautiful day in Santa Catalina, a planned community on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
Went to a working farm and did a chocolate and wine tasting.
Apartments, hotel rooms, and mostly villas.
Perfect location for a big family trip.

Costa Rica - Started the day with a gorgeous view of the water followed by GLUTEN-FREE croissants and cinnamon rolls at the Waldorf. It was such a hospitable and intentional location. Case and point - not only did they have accessible entries to all facilities (like gym, restaurants, and the spa) and public bathrooms equiped with grip bars, but they mounted the mirrors with a tilt and adjusted the vanity height for better utilization of someone in a chair. This should be the norm but it is the exception. Ended the day in Santa Catalina with a lovely sunset with some great colleagues.
