๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿš Washington Adventure Begins! ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒฒ

Our Pacific Northwest journey officially started on June 19th when we arrived at beautiful SilverLake, Washington, and what an incredible few days it has been!

We were lucky enough to score a waterfront campsite, waking up each morning to stunning lake views right outside our door. We spent time kayaking on SilverLake, where we were treated to amazing views of both Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier towering in the distance. It doesnโ€™t get much better than that!๐ŸŒž

While staying here, we explored the incredible Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and learned about the powerful 1980 eruption that forever changed this landscape. Highlights included:
โœ… Johnston Ridge area viewpoints
โœ… Coldwater Lake
โœ… The Hummocks Trail
โœ… Incredible volcanic scenery and wildlife
โœ… Learning the fascinating history of the eruption and recovery

We also enjoyed hiking nearby Seaquest State Park, with its peaceful forest trails, wetlands, and beautiful views of Silver Lake.

After days filled with outdoor adventures, we treated ourselves to some wonderful local dining and enjoyed the small-town charm of this area.

SilverLake exceeded all our expectations and proved to be the perfect first stop in Washington. If youโ€™re traveling through the Pacific Northwest, this hidden gem deserves a spot on your bucket list!

Have you visited Mount St. Helens or SilverLake? Weโ€™d love to hear your favorite memories! Joseph Mealey and Barbara Mealey

What an unforgettable week along the Oregon Coast! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿšโœจ we now pretty much covered the entire organ coast ๐Ÿฅณ๏ฟผ

We spent time traveling from Tillamook down to Cannon Beach and went to some truly amazing places! Nehalem Bay State Park was a highlight โ€” we spent a full week there and absolutely loved it. Being able to ride our e-bikes straight from camp and walk to the beach every single day was FUN. We walked the entire nehalem beach and ended up putting in about 26 miles of beach walking in 7 days! ๐Ÿ˜

We also explored so many beautiful spots:
๐ŸŒฒ Oswald West State Park (Tunnel Beach / Short Sand Beach area)
๐Ÿ–๏ธ Cape Lookout State Park
๐ŸŒŠ Ecola State Park
๐Ÿš Cannon Beach
๐ŸŒฒ L.L. Stub Stewart State Park
๐Ÿ๏ธ Rockaway Beach
๐Ÿš‚ And a fun train ride out of Rockaway Beach to Garibaldi on the coast railroad!

We ate well the whole trip too โ€” lots of great meals at places like The Schooner, sushi spots, The Happy Elephant, plus wine tasting at Manzanita/Nehalem wineries ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฃ

The Pacific Coast has been absolutely unreal โ€” every stop more beautiful than the last. But for now, itโ€™s time to roll on. No more beaches for a bit as we head inland toward Washington and get ready for the Reggae Rise Up festival in Redmond, Oregon ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ”ฅ

What a rideโ€ฆ grateful for every mile, every sunset, and every salty breeze. ๐ŸŒ…

Until the next adventure! ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’จ Joseph Mealey Barbara Mealey

What an incredible week at Crater Lake RV Park in beautiful Oregon! ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ’™

Oregon truly is the State of Waterfalls โ€” we spent our days hiking through lush forests discovering waterfall after waterfall around the Prospect area. Every trail seemed to lead to another hidden gem. Some of our favorites were the roaring beauty of Mill Creek Falls, the peaceful scenery around Barr Creek Falls, and the stunning views along the Rogue Gorge area. The hiking in this region was absolutely amazing and perfect for nature lovers. ๐Ÿฅพ๐ŸŒŠ

Even though parts of Crater Lake were still closed, seeing the lake in person was unforgettable. The deep dark-blue water almost doesnโ€™t look real! Definitely one of the most beautiful places weโ€™ve visited so far on our RV journey.

One local gem we really enjoyed was The Trophy Room & Cafe in Prospect โ€” great sandwiches, tasty daily specials, and the perfect stop after a long hike.

The RV park itself was fantasticโ€ฆ peaceful, well-kept, and such a relaxing place to come back to each evening. We loved winding down by the fireplace at night after spending the day exploring waterfalls and trails. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš

Exploring Northern California has been absolutely amazing! ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿš

We stayed at Antlers RV Park near beautiful Lake Shasta and highly recommend it! The campground was awesome, peaceful, and the views were breathtaking. They even rent boats if you want to get out on the water! ๐Ÿšค

We spent time exploring both Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic National Park โ€” two incredible places every nature lover should experience. Between the mountain scenery, hiking trails, and fresh air, it truly felt like paradise.

We also enjoyed bike riding along the Sacramento River, hiking through gorgeous landscapes, relaxing by campfires at night, and even treating ourselves to some fine dining along the way. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿท

One of the best parts of this retirement journey has been meeting new friends and making unforgettable memories. Life is great, and weโ€™re loving every mile of this adventure! โค๏ธ missing our friends and family but we will see them all in November! Joseph Mealey Barbara Mealey

Yosemite ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒฒโœจ

We just wrapped up a stay near Yosemite and it was absolutely incredible. The park itself is beyond wordsโ€”towering granite cliffs, endless scenic views, and waterfalls that feel like theyโ€™re straight out of a postcard. The hikes were some of the best weโ€™ve ever done, especially with the rushing water this time of year. Every turn had another โ€œwowโ€ moment. We did a total of 30 miles hiking in 6 days.

We stoped plenty just to take it all in. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿž๏ธ

We stayed at Don Pablo Moccine Point Campground. Quick heads-up for anyone traveling with larger rigs: it is NOT suitable for 40+ foot RVs. The campground roads are tight, and the exit road is especially narrow with steep drop-offs on both sides. Definitely take caution if youโ€™re driving anything big.

That said, the surrounding area is beautiful in its own right. The lake nearby is stunning, and the small towns around Yosemite have a really cool, laid-back mountain vibeโ€”great spots to grab a bite or just wander through.

Overall, Yosemite is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. Already looking forward to going back someday ๐ŸŒ„ Joseph Mealey Barbara Mealey
