Reselling vs. Counterfeiting: What's the difference? 🃏
Both involve selling artwork created by someone else, but there's an important distinction: authenticity.
When we resell a tarot or oracle deck, we're giving an authentic, previously produced deck a new home. We're not claiming to have created the artwork, and we're not reproducing it. We're helping collectors find decks that may be rare, discontinued, or simply difficult to track down.
Counterfeiting is different. It involves making or distributing unauthorized reproductions of someone else's work, often presented as the genuine product. Those copies can undermine the artists and publishers who brought the original decks to life.
At AV Tarot Market, we believe there's room to support both artists and the secondary collector's market. In fact, we think they're important parts of the same community.
✨ What do you think? Can reselling and supporting artists go hand in hand?
