Kokomo Yachts provides bareboat and demise charters on luxury vessels ranging from 35' to 63' from Sarasota to Tampa. Charterers independently select and hire their own qualified captains.
To support this process, we maintain an informational registry of independent, USCG-licensed captains to help vessel owners and their insurance carriers identify qualified professionals who may be approved as named operators.
🚨 This is not an employment opportunity. Captains are never hired, assigned, or employed by Kokomo. Charterers independently select and contract with captains directly.

HOW IT WORKS:
✓ Captains submit credentials for vessel owner and insurance carrier review
✓ Insurance carriers evaluate qualifications and approve captains as named operators on specific vessels
✓ Once approved, captains are listed in an informational directory accessible to charterers
✓ Captains manage their own profiles, scheduling and client relationships via HireYourCaptain.com

CREDENTIALS TYPICALLY REQUIRED BY VESSEL INSURANCE CARRIERS:
- Active USCG Master License (25 Ton or higher)
- Verifiable operating experience on yachts 35'+
- Local knowledge of operating area (Sarasota, St. Pete, Tampa Bay, Gulf Coast)
- Professional references and documented boating history
- Validation of no insurance claims or arrests in past 10 years
- USCG random drug testing consortium enrollment
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience operating similar vessel class and length
