Great ideas. I’m taking notes and planning to purchase some as gifts for my travelers.

Just one thing: please don’t buy on Amazon!! Buy directly from the company that makes them. If you need help finding them, let me know. I’ll be happy to research that.

Sure, you'd never travel without your toothbrush—but what about a cord taco?

This is an excellent piece about the art and artisans in the Pátzcuaro area from Craftsmanship Magazine (2021, I think.) It's not short, but for those of us who are into this (and I knoiw you know who you are 😉) it's worth every second.

The well researched and engaging text is by Laura Fraser (who I believe lives in SMA?) and the stunning photos of so many familiar people and places are by Janet Jarman of the NYT.

From pineapple-shaped pots to coppersmithing, Pátzcuaro in southwestern Mexico has long served as a community hub for artisanal crafts. How will it survive today's challenges?

A fantastic piece - this one from Craftsmanship Magazine - about the luthiers of Paracho, Michoacán.

A fantastic piece - this one from Craftsmanship Magazine - about the luthiers of Paracho, Michoacán.

The now-iconic white guitar from the Disney film, “Coco,” was created in Paracho, Mexico, where almost every shop sells guitars. Our writer tracked down some master luthiers who make the real thing.

In the past couple of days several excellent articles, videos, etc. have come my way about some of my favorite artists of Michoacán. This is one - a video interview with potter Elvia Silva of Zipiajo. She is a humble yet savvy Force of Nature, this one, and I'm delighted to share this video with you.

(Gracias to Peggy for the introduction and to Alejandro for the post.)

P'urhepecha Master Ceramist, Community Organizer and Activist Maria Elvia Silva Bartolo is from the community of Zipiajo, Michoacan, Mexico. Maria Elvia talk...
