Beautiful! Time to plan a whale watching trip!

A 3-year-old albino dolphin was spotted swimming with its mom in California's Monterey Bay last week, and the little one appears healthy, scientists say.

My favorite thing to do in Mexico City is visit the Templo Mayor, the ruins of a massive Aztec temple buried under the city's main square. Scientists have just discovered another massive temple hidden just a few blocks away! So much history hidden under these city streets!

The remains of a huge Aztec temple and a ceremonial ball court are coming to light.

Anyone seeing wildflowers or spring blossoms where you are? I'm hoping to get out this weekend and and hunt for some of these "superbloom" vistas.

WOW! Check out to see places in CA to find blooms (Photos: Susan Segal, John Kee, Charlie Locke, Desert News, Danita Delemont)

My love for travel starts with the love I have for my beautiful and diverse country. After the Presidential inauguration this past January, I threw myself into local political and community organizing, helping to launch a new activism group to support people who are hurting and resist my government’s most objectionable policies. Unfortunately, this work has consumed most of my travel, social media, and blogging time. I’m working to find a balance in my life, but in the meantime, I'll share relevant posts here.

Our Muslim and Jewish neighbors are scared right now with the rise in hate-motivated threats and attacks, so please look for ways to show your support. Yesterday, I went to a public event a local Bay Area mosque. It was my first time visiting an active mosque, though I’ve visited historic ones when traveling in Europe. The members invited neighbors of all faiths (and none), inside to witness prayer service and learn about the Muslim faith. Afterward, we gathered to hold hands in a complete circle around the building! It was a powerful symbol of love and support. After the event, some of my group members went out to dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant and the hijab-wearing Lebanese proprietor teared up and thanked us when we told her about our evening.

Have you seen any events like this in your community? If not, sending letters and postcards, stopping into mosques, temples, and community centers to say hi and let the members know they are welcome in your community are little gestures, but much appreciated.
