Do you know someone who's been saying "I should look into trucking" for a while?

Maybe it came up at a party. Maybe they mention it every time a truck passes on the freeway. Maybe it's you.

Fall has a way of making people think about next year and whether it'll look any different from this one. If someone in your life keeps coming back to the idea of driving for a living, tag them below. Sometimes a nudge from a friend is the part that's missing.

You already know how to follow a plan, stay disciplined, and get the job done under pressure. Those same habits show up in a lot of great truck drivers.

For veterans making the move to civilian work, we accept VA educational benefits for eligible students in our CDL programs. That may help cover the cost of training for a Class A or Class B license. Our admissions team works with veterans to sort out eligibility and next steps, so you're not decoding the paperwork alone.

Four weeks. 160 hours. One license that covers a wide range of trucking jobs.

Our Class A CDL program is built for people who want to be driving for a living soon, not someday. Here's what those four weeks include:

- Classroom instruction built to federal ELDT standards
- Pre-trip inspection, from the engine compartment to the trailer
- Backing and maneuvering practice on our yard
- Road training in the same kind of truck you'll drive on the job
- Job placement support, including on-campus visits from carrier recruiters

Classes run at both our San Diego and Riverside campuses. Get started here: https://ow.ly/BlIR50ZSUSz

Attend CDL training at United Truck Driving Schools' premiere truck driving school to earn a commercial driver's license.

Some of the most important visitors on our campuses this month aren't coming to take a class. They're coming to hire.

Carrier recruiters are visiting our San Diego and Riverside campuses throughout October. It's a chance to ask about open positions, home time, and what each company looks for in a new driver, then compare your options side by side before training wraps up.

Whether you're in training now or still deciding if trucking is for you, check our events page for upcoming visit schedule and plan to stop by.

"Do I need a Class A or a Class B?" It's one of the first questions people ask us, and the answer depends on the kind of workday you want.

A Class A CDL lets you drive combination vehicles, like a tractor-trailer, where the trailer weighs more than 10,000 pounds. It's the license for over-the-road, regional, and most local tractor-trailer jobs.

A Class B CDL covers single heavy vehicles, like box trucks, dump trucks, and buses (with the right endorsement). A lot of Class B work is local, which often means getting home every night.

There isn't a "right answer". If you're still weighing it, our admissions team can walk you through both.

Hood up. Flashlight out. Before a single wheel turns, our students walk the whole truck.

Pre-trip inspection is one of the first things we teach and one of the last things anyone gets to skip. Students learn to check the engine compartment, brakes, tires, lights, and coupling system, then explain out loud what they're looking at and why it matters. It's also part of the CDL skills test, so the habit starts early here.

From the outside, it looks like a checklist. From the driver's seat, it's peace of mind for every mile that follows.

The first time someone climbs into the cab of a Class A truck, their grip on the wheel tells our instructors a lot.

Our instructors have watched that moment play out with student after student. Tight shoulders on day one. A little more confidence by the end of week one. By week four, the same student is backing into a tight spot and calling out their own corrections. That progress doesn't happen by accident. It comes from instructors who know when to push, when to slow down, and how to explain the same maneuver five different ways until it clicks.

To the people who spend their days in the passenger seat and out on the yard with our students: thank you. You're a big reason our graduates leave here ready.

See you tomorrow!

Our CDL Training Open House is Saturday, October 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at our San Diego campus! It's a low-pressure way to see what training looks like before you commit to anything. Walk the yard, get up close with the trucks, and bring your questions about schedules, tuition, and getting started.

Drive Werner recruiters will be on site too, so you can hear straight from a carrier what they look for in new drivers.
