What if your idea of relaxation includes a little adventure? 💜🌎

Today is National Relaxation Day, and travel has taught me that relaxation doesn't always have to mean lying beside a pool or sitting on a beach.
Sometimes it's paddling across quiet water and suddenly stopping because the view has taken your breath away.

Sometimes it's standing somewhere you've never been before and realizing that, for those few minutes, you're not thinking about your schedule, your responsibilities, or what you need to do next.
You're simply taking in the awe and beauty surrounding you.

That's one of the gifts travel can give us.
Adventure can excite us, challenge us and teach us—but it can also quiet us.

And sometimes the places that take us farthest from home are the very places where we find a little more peace within ourselves. 💜

Happy National Relaxation Day!

June 24th

The view from the bottom was beautiful. But Dynjandi had a lot more to show me. 🇮🇸🥾

For Part 2 of my Dynjandi adventure, I'm taking you along on the extreme hike.

As we climbed, there were places to stop and take in our surroundings. I could look down and see how far we'd already traveled, then turn around and look toward the waterfall and realize we still had more climbing ahead.

Those stops became part of the experience.
The closer we got, the more incredible Dynjandi became. What looked like one magnificent waterfall from a distance revealed layer after layer of rushing water as we climbed.

Eventually, I reached the top.
Arms in the air. Huge smile. And one very happy traveler who had just done something she wasn't entirely sure she could do when she started. 💜

This is one of the reasons I love expedition travel. Sometimes the destination is extraordinary—but the journey getting there becomes the story you remember.

When you travel, do you challenge yourself physically, or are you more of a "I'll enjoy that beautiful view from right here" traveler?

Your next adventure may be somewhere you haven't even thought to look. 💜🌎

That's one of the things I love most about being a travel advisor—helping people look beyond the ordinary.

Maybe it's an expedition. Maybe it's a destination you've never considered. Maybe it's finally taking that journey you've been saying “someday” about for years.

Travel isn't just about seeing another place. It's about discovering, experiencing, learning and sometimes surprising yourself along the way.
Adventure starts here.

Where is somewhere you've always wondered about but never seriously considered visiting?

Travel isn't only about seeing beautiful places. Sometimes it's about understanding the people, cultures and history that shaped them.

Today is National Navajo Code Talkers Day, honoring the Navajo Marines who used their language to create an extraordinary military code during World War II.

I love so many things about travel but for me it's about how travel brings history to life. Museums, memorials and the places where history actually happened remind us that these weren't simply stories in a book. They were real people, real cultures and real lives.

The story of the Navajo Code Talkers is also a reminder that our differences can be our strengths.

The more of the world I see, the more I believe we don't have to be alike to respect one another. We simply have to be willing to learn from each other.

Travel teaches us to look beyond what is different and discover what connects us. ❤️

🚂 Sometimes the journey really can be part of the adventure.

After completing my Rocky Mountaineer training, I found myself adding another experience to my own travel wish list.

Imagine watching mountains, rivers, forests and incredible landscapes unfold right outside your window—all while traveling by train. There are so many ways to explore this beautiful world, and sometimes slowing down gives us the opportunity to see things we might otherwise miss.

One day, I would love to experience a Rocky Mountaineer journey for myself. 💜🏔️

Would a scenic train journey be on your travel wish list?

✋ International Left-Handers Day — Travel Is About Looking in Every Direction

Being raised by a left-handed mother taught me something long before I ever became a travel advisor: sometimes there is more than one way to do something.

I'm right-handed when I write, but I learned certain things from my mom's perspective. To this day, I iron with my left hand, pull my suitcase with my left, and can comfortably do quite a few things either way.

And somewhere along the way, I realized travel has taught me much the same lesson.
Don't only look where everyone else is looking.
Look left. Look right. Look behind you. Notice what's beside you. Wander a little farther down the street. Look beyond the famous attraction everyone came to photograph.

Because sometimes the best travel memories are hiding just outside the expected view.

There's fascinating research into handedness and how our brains organize different functions, but I don't need science to tell me what my left-handed mom gave me:
An appreciation for doing—and seeing—things from more than one perspective. 💜
And that's something I carry with me wherever in the world I go.

Happy International Left-Handers Day! ✋🌎

This is the kind of moment expedition travel can give you. 🌎

Our ship brought us to Dynjandi Waterfall in Iceland's remote Westfjords, where we were able to experience this magnificent protected natural monument later in the day, after most visitors had already left.

From below, Dynjandi is breathtaking — a series of waterfalls cascading down the mountainside, with the largest towering above everything.
But looking at it was only the beginning.
When it came time to choose my hiking group, I chose the extreme hike. 🥾

Tonight, I'm only sharing the view before I started walking.

Because sometimes the best travel stories deserve more than one chapter.

Tomorrow I'll share what happened when I started climbing.

Could you see yourself taking the extreme hike at Dynjandi?

There’s more to Vigur Island than its incredible birdlife. 🇮🇸

After sharing some of the birds yesterday, I wanted to show you the landscape that surrounds them.
Green fields, wildflowers, old stone walls, weathered fences, colorful buildings and that charming little windmill — all surrounded by the waters of Iceland’s Westfjords.

Vigur Island has a quieter kind of beauty. It’s not about towering waterfalls or massive glaciers. It’s about slowing down and noticing the details of a place that feels almost untouched by time.
Sometimes the smallest stops become some of the most memorable.

Would a quiet little island like this be somewhere you’d want to explore?

📚 Happy National Book Lovers Day! 🌎✈️

There are two wonderful ways to travel the world…
Open a book. Or pack a suitcase.

A good book can carry you through the streets of Paris, across the African savanna, into a little village in Italy, or aboard a ship sailing toward some faraway shore—all without ever leaving your favorite chair.

And sometimes, a story plants the seed for a journey we eventually take ourselves.

That's one of the things I love about travel. We spend our lives reading and dreaming about places, and then one day we get the opportunity to stand there and experience them for ourselves.
So today, here's to the books that make us dream, the stories that make us curious, and the journeys that are still waiting for us. 📖🌍💕

Has a book ever inspired you to visit a destination?

Sometimes the wildlife becomes the destination. 🐦🇮🇸

A little glimpse of the incredible birdlife on Vigur Island, Iceland.

Travel is about respecting the places we’re lucky enough to visit.
