Thank you for taking a moment to read about us, Sylvia and Robert, the shop owners of the Basement Boutique Mall on Etsy – the BBM as we affectionately refer to it. We would love to share our story about the beginnings of the BBM with you. We were high school sweethearts that followed separate paths and cities after graduation….Life happened and then 28 years passed. That's when the good Lord retu
rned us to each other and a new life journey began for us! So grateful and blessed for our permanent reunion. Our mutual passion for creating, repurposing and rediscovering motivated us to convert a spare bedroom to an arts, crafts & sewing room. We lived by the mantra that “everything old can be made new again”. We sold our handmade products at local church craft fairs under the name Artistic Flair – by SRG. Eventually this led us down the road of discovering the adventures of treasure hunting for old items at estate sells & auctions. We quickly realized that people’s personal effects from their lives are not old belongings but Vintage treasures with individual stories to each item. Remember: “Just when the Caterpillar thought the world was over, IT BECAME A BUTTERFLY.”
It’s been said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and although we have accumulated enough beauty to fill the 2nd & 3rd bay of our garage (our workshop), we never cease to find beauty in past and present forgotten treasures. This is precisely when we discovered the on-line world of ETSY. It was an eye-opening experience to see so many other people & shop owners share our same passion for VINTAGE Everything! It’s absolutely wonderful to be a part of it. Currently...Our 3 car garage is packed to the rim, yet organized quite well, with vintage life treasures we've acquired which fondly make their way to the Basement Boutique Mall. It really brings a warm fuzzy to our hearts knowing the Etsy on-line store we dubbed the "Basement Boutique Mall" all started by turning a room in our house to a beautiful craft room. But we have not forgotten our beginnings from the church craft shows...we have a category for these handmade products by Sylvia on our Basement Boutique Mall…more to come in this category. Anyway we hope you will find something vintage and handmade in our store that has a story with it that will move you to make it part of your home or add it to your repertoire fashion.
