I took down our deer post not because I care about any of your opinions or threats. I am always willing to learn or have a discussion over techniques or ideas. I generally only post hog content because people are interested in that type of animal and how to handle them. However, I did forget a rule I made a long time ago. “Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.” I posted a deer video. Nothing graphic, I thought most people never experienced those wild animal up close. Or how to handle them. I thought it would be interesting. Looking at the stats on the video 59% of y’all only saw it for 3 seconds. Then made judgements and claims and gave advice for things I had written and explained about in the title of the video. Well, I should thank y’all for making us more famous. And I even laughed at the blue barrel thing. Heck my daughter wanted to make T-shirts! But y’all made it toxic. Not one person who had the keyboard courage to denounce, judge, ridicule and threaten my crew know how we use the barrels. They are not shields. Those of you who claim to be experts ever think of why a blue barrel? Why not white? Why not a piece of plywood? Here’s a fun fact, blue is seen by deer about 20 times brighter and better than most other colors. They don’t have the UV filters in their eyes like we do and short wavelength colors are exceptionally bright to them. How many of you experts go hunting or stalking in blue jeans? Or do y’all go dressed up as trees? There is reasons for just about everything we do. Then the near relentless comments on stressing the deer. We can put down 17 deer in 28 mins. How do I know, because I time it for that reason. And I know how many hours my crew put on the clock. PLUS, that’s running the deer into a shoot and a net dispatching them with a live capture bolt gun, just like livestock, untangling them and resetting the net. How’s that for professionalism? How many of y’all have shot a deer and tracked it for 100 yrds or further? You don’t think that deer isn’t stressed? If you have a problem on how your venison tastes maybe you should reevaluate your processing techniques or become a better shot.
In the end, I had enough of people going after my crew, my livelihood, or our reputation for something they do not fully see or understand. I stand by my crew, our ideas, field tested techniques and professionalism. If anyone wants to discuss this further, I am not hard to find. That’s all I got to say about that, and maybe I said too much. Y’all have a day!
