RESORT SPOTLIGHT: Disney’s Pop Century Resort

If you’re looking for a Disney resort that gives you a lot of bang for your buck, Pop Century is one I will always recommend taking a look at.

And yes, I’m biased because it’s one of my favorites.

Here’s why I love it:

The Skyliner. This is probably my favorite perk. Being able to hop on the gondola and head to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios without getting on a bus is a game changer.

The theming. It’s colorful, fun and completely Disney. The larger than life icons from the different decades make this resort feel like a vacation before you even leave the resort.

The price. You get that Disney resort experience and the perks that come with staying on property without paying deluxe resort prices.

The pools. They’re fun, especially the Hippy Dippy Pool, and the whole resort has that bright, nostalgic vibe.

And the food court makes grabbing a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner really easy when you don’t want to spend two hours sitting down for a meal.

Would I choose Pop Century for every family? No.

But for families who want to stay on Disney property, want access to the Skyliner and don’t need a ton of resort amenities, it can be an AMAZING choice.

And this is exactly why I love helping people choose their Disney resort. There isn’t one “best” resort. There’s the best resort for YOUR family, your budget and the way you vacation.

Things I do on vacation that probably make absolutely ZERO sense to other people:

Get up ridiculously early because “I want to get a good start to the day” and then complain that I'm tired by 2pm.

Bring a book everywhere. Yes, even when I know I probably won't have time to read it.

Walk around a hotel just to look at it. The lobby? The restaurants? The pool? The theming? I need to see EVERYTHING.

Take approximately 47 pictures of the same thing because “the lighting was different.”

Plan what I'm eating days in advance while simultaneously saying I want to be spontaneous.

Pack my running shoes with every intention of getting a run in.

Have I actually gone for the run?

Let's not talk about that.

Buy something on vacation that I absolutely did not need because “I won't be able to get this at home.”

And I will ALWAYS choose the warm destination.

Because apparently my idea of relaxing is being excited about the next thing we're doing.

Tell me I'm not the only one.

🎂✨ Happy 55th Birthday, Walt Disney World! ✨🎂

October 1, 1971 is the day the Most Magical Place on Earth opened its gates.

55 years later, millions of families have made memories there, celebrated birthdays, taken first trips, started traditions, and returned year after year.

And as someone who has been both a Disney guest AND a Disney travel advisor, I know there’s something pretty special about helping families plan those memories.

If you’re planning your first Walt Disney World vacation, here are a few things I wish every first time visitor knew:

You do NOT have to do everything.

You don’t need to rope drop every morning, stay until park close, eat at every restaurant, ride every attraction, and somehow squeeze in a pool day.

Your Disney vacation should actually feel like a vacation.

A few other things I always tell my clients:

• Build in downtime. Your resort is part of the vacation.

• Don’t underestimate how much time transportation can take.

• Make dining reservations based on your actual plans, not just because a restaurant looks good.

• You don’t have to visit all four parks on your first trip.

• Leave room for the unexpected. Some of the best Disney memories aren’t the things you planned months in advance.

And probably my biggest piece of advice?

Have a plan, but don’t make the plan so rigid that you can’t enjoy yourself.

That’s where having a travel advisor can make a huge difference. I can help you figure out what actually needs planning, what doesn’t, and how to make the most of your time without turning your vacation into a military operation.

A little about me, because there are probably some new faces around here.

I’m Angela: travel advisor, Disney Adult, mom to Lucas, wife to my favorite travel partner, book lover, bartender, and professional trip planner.

I’ve been in the travel industry for almost 10 years, and what started as something I enjoyed has grown into my full time dream job.

I specialize in Disney, Universal, cruises, and all inclusive vacations, but what I really specialize in is making travel feel less overwhelming.

I’m the person who will help you figure out where to stay, when to go, what tickets make sense, which dining reservations are worth grabbing, and how to make the most of your time once you’re there.

I’m also a traveler myself. I’ve stayed at Disney resorts, sailed on cruises, run through Disney parks, eaten an unreasonable amount of theme park food, and learned plenty of things the hard way so my clients don’t have to.

When I’m not planning vacations, I’m probably reading. I set a goal to read 150 books this year, which may have been slightly ambitious, but apparently I enjoy giving myself impossible challenges. I love getting completely lost in a good story and always have a book nearby.

And when I’m not reading, you can usually find me bartending at Sherwood Brewing Company, spending time with Lucas and Chris, planning our next trip, or convincing Chris that yes, we probably do need another vacation.

A question I get from time to time:

“Why is there a planning fee if I’m just buying tickets?”

Totally fair question.

When you book a vacation package with me, my services are included because I’m compensated by the travel supplier.

But ticket-only purchases can be different.

There are certain ticket only bookings where I receive little or no commission, while I’m still doing the work that comes with helping you plan the trip.

That can include:

• Helping you choose the right ticket for your trip
• Comparing options and pricing
• Making sure you understand the ticket rules and what is (and isn’t) included
• Reserving dining on your behalf
• Creating a personalized itinerary
• Providing my tips and tricks guide
• Answering questions before and during the planning process
• Keeping up with changes that could affect your plans
• And being your travel resource instead of simply handing you a link to buy tickets yourself

My planning fees allow me to continue providing that level of service even when the booking itself doesn't compensate me for the time involved.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with purchasing tickets yourself! If you just want a link and prefer to handle the planning on your own, that option is always there.

But if you want someone in your corner to help you navigate the details, that's what my planning service is for.

I don't charge the fee just to charge a fee. It allows me to put the same care into a ticket only booking that I put into a full vacation.

My cruise personality is very specific.

I want to sleep in… but I also want to be up early enough to watch the ship pull into port.

I want a relaxing sea day… but I also need to know what’s happening around the ship.

I want to sit by the pool… but I will absolutely get up because there’s trivia, a show, a food tasting or something else I don't want to miss.

I want to try all the food.

I want a balcony… but I also want to spend half my time exploring the ship.

I want to get off at every port… but I also need at least one day where I don't have anywhere to be.

And yes, I will probably start talking about the next cruise before the current one is even over.

Basically, I want to relax while simultaneously making sure I don't miss a single thing.

One of the questions I get a lot:

"When should we actually start planning our Disney vacation?"

My answer? Earlier than you probably think but don't let that stop you if you're planning a last-minute trip!

Starting early gives us more time to:

• Talk through your dates and budget
• Find the resort that actually fits your family
• Compare different vacation options
• Watch for promotions
• Make a game plan for dining and experiences
• Build an itinerary that works for YOUR family! Not one you found on TikTok or Pinterest

But here's the other side of it:

Last minute Disney trips can absolutely happen.

Sometimes an opportunity comes up, you decide you need a getaway, or you simply didn't start planning as early as you wanted. That doesn't mean you shouldn't reach out.

Your options may be different, but there's still a lot we can look at and figure out.

And you don't have to know what you're doing before you contact a travel advisor.

If you're sitting there thinking, "We really want to do Disney, but I have absolutely no idea where to start," that's actually a great time to message me.
