Northern Neck - Wooden Boat School NNK-WBS is a specialty program that builds boats, teaching students practical technical and problem solving skills. Our Motto is “Build, Contribute, Learn”.

We have the cover up on the boathouse. No we can hold class in it rain or shine.

You’ll notice we are already building boats in it for our Summer Camp Boat Build. Twelve students this summer, better than ever. Super bunch of students and great volunteers. Some pretty good boat builders too. Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far. It’s onwards and upwards now.

We kicked off our summer program today with a bang! We have a FANTASTIC group of students! Many thanks to the volunteers who came to help us on this very warm day. We started a new after session yesterday with two new students. The lesson task was to build the mid-frame assembly using a jig. They will be used in the up coming Summer Camp Boat Build where we will be building three Bevins Skiffs. Congratulations on the good work guys.

Another successful build day is in the books. Yesterday we had three volunteers completed the er****on of the 13th bow frame on our future boathouse. We have three to go. Then we’ll close in the ends and put the cover on. Thinking along a positive line. We could be launching our After School Boat Building Classes in January.

A big thanks to Habitat for Humanity joining us to help with this project. If anyone has an interest to volunteer we are always open to hearing from you.
