With the upcoming vote on pedicab license limits, we want to share our position clearly as Provincetown Pedicab.
WE SUPPORT THE PROPOSED BYLAWS FOR THE CAP ON THE NUMBERS OF PEDICABS in Provincetown, and we have for years.
Having operated in Provincetown for over 23 years, we have seen firsthand how this industry evolves. With that experience, we can say confidently that a well-balanced system is critical to keeping pedicabs safe, reliable, and beneficial to the community.
A thoughtful cap helps:
• Maintain public safety
• Reduce congestion on already busy streets
• Ensure clear accountability and oversight
• Preserve the quality of service visitors expect
• Support fair and sustainable earnings for drivers
Pedicabs are not just transportation — they are part of the Provincetown experience. Every season, drivers help reduce car traffic, safely get people home, and contribute to the unique energy of this town.
But like any system, it needs structure.
Over time, we’ve learned that without clear limits, oversaturation can lead to safety concerns, inconsistent service, and unnecessary strain on both the Town and the people working in the industry. A stable and well-managed system benefits everyone — residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
At the same time, it’s important that any cap is implemented in a way that is fair, predictable, and grounded in reality — one that supports the community while also respecting those who have been operating responsibly and investing in Provincetown for decades.
As a company, we are deeply rooted here. This is not seasonal for us — this is our home. We are here year-round, and we care about the long-term future of Provincetown.
