I recently surveyed S/V Starlight, a classic Port Townsend wooden sailboat long owned by Michael Davidson. With well-kept cedar strip planking, solid structure, and the timeless character of traditional craftsmanship, she’s clearly been cared for.

She’s now headed to a 24-year-old student in Vancouver, BC, continuing the legacy of wooden boat stewardship in the Northwest. Honored to help document her condition as she begins her next chapter.

Sadly this 40' wooden motor yacht, M/V Goldfinch, sank at the Hudson Point marina in Port Townsend. She was a fine double hulled yacht, top of the line in 1967 with twin Cummins diesels. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
I was fortunate to take part in the damage survey. Since graduating from the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, I'm always excited to survey a wooden boat. Lots learned on this one.
