TDF Services is a Pittsburgh-based trucking and equipment repair company maintaining a large fleet of trucks and heavy construction equipment for a leading Western Pennsylvania heavy civil contractor. When the fleet comes back to the yard each evening, our shop gets it road-ready and job-ready for the next morning.
The Role
You'll work second shift in our shop at 109 Dark Hollow Rd, diagnosing and repairing everything from tri-axle dump trucks to asphalt pavers. With the fleet in the yard overnight, second shift is when the real wrench-turning happens — you'll have the equipment, the bay, and the time to do the job right.
What You'll Work On
Trucks: tri-axle dumps, lowboys, tractors, mechanics trucks, fuel and water trucks, pickups
Paving equipment: asphalt pavers, rollers, milling machines, material transfer vehicles
Earthmoving & utility equipment: excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, dozers
Attachments and small equipment: plate compactors, saws, pumps, generators
What You'll Do
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and drivetrains
Perform preventive maintenance — oil changes, filters, greasing, fluid checks, scheduled services
Troubleshoot using diagnostic software and scan tools
Perform DOT inspections and keep trucks inspection-ready
Conduct welding and fabrication repairs as needed
Prioritize overnight repairs so equipment is ready for morning dispatch
Maintain accurate repair records and parts documentation
Occasionally perform field service calls for breakdowns on job sites
Requirements
3+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and 12/24-volt electrical systems
Own tools (specialty and diagnostic equipment provided)
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Able to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for the full shift
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
Preferred
Experience with asphalt paving equipment (Cat, Volvo, Wirtgen, Hamm, Roadtec or similar)
PA State Inspection license
CDL Class A or B
Welding and fabrication experience
Air conditioning (EPA 609) certification
Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, second shift
Year-round, shop-based position with occasional field service calls
