Not everyone has family nearby. Not everyone has grandparents available every week. Not everyone has a partner whose schedule allows them to help carry the load of never ending to-do’s.

Sometimes your village looks like a babysitter.
Sometimes it’s a cleaner.
Sometimes it’s grocery delivery.
Sometimes it’s an organizer who comes by for a few hours each week to help keep things moving.

And honestly? This is something I’ve had to learn myself.

This year, we’ve hired a cleaner for our own home and someone to cut the grass. Not because we can’t do those things, but because we’ve decided our time and energy are better spent elsewhere right now. 🌱

I’ve found that a few hours of help each week can be the difference between constantly feeling behind and finally feeling like you can breathe again.

You don’t have to do it all yourself. And you don’t get extra credit for struggling alone.

I used to be so against cube storage. I would fight against the basic design and the simplification of it all. But after years of organizing in hundreds of homes, I’ve determined that this really is the best storage system when it comes to children’s items.

When it comes to children six years and under, they often have lots of categories and different types of toys. Hot wheels, magnet tiles, little people, action figures, sensory toys, cards, and games, the list goes on… storage cubes are just the right amount of room to separate their toys without it being too deep of a container to get overloaded or overwhelmed with.

We have to remember who we were designing for, and those little people are lower to the ground right now! I enjoy turning a six or eight cube shelf on its side and using them at the bottom of closets. This keeps everyday like shoes, books or toys easy to reach. (And put away independently!)

If you have enough wall space and want to be able to keep certain items out of reach until mom and dad can get them, like Play-Doh and art supplies we can suggest stacking cubes on top of each other. *remember to anchor them to the walls securely!*

So the next time you’re stressed out about to storage, just remember that everything is temporary and as they grow so well, so will your storage options but for right now, sometimes less is more 😉

Comparison really is the thief of joy and I’m just here to keep it 100% honest with you that even as a home organizer, my home is not always “put away” we use this room more than anything so of course it’s going to look that way ☀️

When I come into your home, there is absolutely no judgment sometimes getting a little bit of a story from you helps me to understand how you use a space but I don’t need you to feel like you have to explain anything.
